After the H55f swap you are left a big hole in the carpet that needs be filled- I cut a small piece from the old cargo carpet I had and stuck in with double sided tape- But then it was really off color as the old hump carpet was faded light grey.

I looked at dyeing the carpet but was told to try painting it. WTF? Paint- I almost didn't even go to the guys store to see what he had. We did a test sample and it was really cool-

So I got a few can of SEM color coat spray for interiors- 15303 Graphite color

I did it a few months back to see how it would hold up to wear and tear and so well so good

I first cleaned (hung them on the fence and beat them with a big broom and got all the sand and crap out)

I did not wash the carpet

I sprayed them with a few heavy coats 6 inches or so back. I used 1.5 cans for the front and mid section. The first pic is the new paint color and the second is before the paint.

The graphite color is a few shades darker then stock but did a good job of a nice even color.-

I figure that if it does ever start to wear off in a year or so it is so easy to pull the carpets out that it would be easy to do it again

In this last pic you can see what a difference it makes - I left a little sliver for comparison

My only concern is: Does it smell funny?

I knew a guy who painted his dash, not in an LC, and it wreaked real bad.

Thats what I said- really happy with it- about 12 bucks a can-A lot better than a carpet kit for SOR or something- My truck has almost 300,000 miles on it so I felt like treating it to a super deep clean.

I guess dealers use it to freshen up the carpet for resale on used cars.- I guess you can use it on lots of other stuff as well- I used it for the latches for tire jack kit and rear window washer bag filler cap- both were brittle and nasty- spruced it right up!
