by answearing your question i answeared my question, i saw this pic linked through another site and the bumper was named poor wally's custom bumper so i assumed it was for sale. when i looked for link to post i found this guys site who custom built it

http://jrutherford.us/

killer bumper, would buy one if i could

that's a cool 60. i like the bumper too, but it looks odd on a 60

He makes every one custom.

Price would vary based on what you need and how thick you want it.
Shoot him an email at farmboy@sover.net

I have no pics of mine (which he built) or his, with a fairlead for his pto recessed ito it.

Mine is 1/4" and has been through hell, looks like new.

Hey Guys,

I'm friends with Wally...he built my bumpers for my 60. The front bumper is on, but we have yet to put the back on. (doing it on the last weekend of feb)

Wally does some amazing work. He "overbuilds" everything...

I'm the owner of the webpage and the green FJ60....Here is the actual bumper build page:

http://jrutherford.us/fj60_bumper_build.htm

Here is the page withone of Walter's rig...he runs a PTO winch...

http://jrutherford.us/walters_machine.htm

I believe you can contact him by email as listed above...but don't expect an email back the next day...he's a busy man!

Lastly, if you are really intersted...hit me off list and I can contact him for you.

Cheers,

Jon

NIce truck. Wally built my tub and helped with most everything done to my 67.

Every time I knock loose a filling when one of his bumpers/ quarters/ rockers hit a rock, I smile.

You had on your site that you were looking for some specs on his 40:

64 FJ40
3/16th Poor Wally tub
ARB fr/rr with in cab pressure gauge and shutoff from the underbody air tank
38x11.5 boggers on factory rims
Front non power disk with a custom master braket
Weber 32/36
Original rebuilt F-135
Header split and rebent to work with the winch
PTO winch, shear pin eliminated
FJ60 Power steering
SM420 to 3 speed case
4:88's

Nice wagon dude. Can't believe I haven't run across it on any wheelin' outings yet.

Hey Jon, what's your rear bumper look like? Inquiring minds want to know, so hurry up and update that bumper build page! :D

There is a pic towards the bottom of the rear bumper. Its the un-painted bumper, with the massive pintal (SP?) hook. (pic says "rear bumper almost done")

http://jrutherford.us/fj60_bumper_build.htm

I'll be installing it with Walter at the end of the month. We are cutting out the rear cross member, then welding the bumper directly to the frame, and adding some supports. The bumper will stick out less than the stock bumper. (minus the hook) The idea down the road is to cut back the bottom rear quarters and extend the bumper to make rocker guards.

I'll post more pics as soon as it's done.

Lastly, I"ll be putting more of Wally's work up on my webpage over the next month...

 JR

I like that bumper, I know a guy that can fabricate bumpers of that caliber, how much in materials does it take to build one like that?

We started with one 10FT, 3"x5", 1/4thick tube and built front/rear out of it...

I used to buy parts from Wally, aka Tyke, a really cool guy, he did some work on the cowl of my FJ40, his work is bullet proof and decent prices.

Oh, OK, I've been admiring those bumpers for quite a while on your site, and I was thinking that surely you had the rear installed by now. :)

Post up when it's installed. The internal reinforcement for the pintle is great, by the way. Very clever idea.
