soooo i had the tow of shame yesterday. never thought it would happen.
anyways before i pull this carb off becuase it wont start at all. i need to know something about the fuel cutoff solenoid. when i turn the key it should just open right. not open and close rapidly. becuase thats what it did and i thought oh it's working. but in the wee hours of this morning in my dream it occured to me that that aint right. is it?

yes i have spark and i have fuel to the carb:cheers:

You're right - that ain't right. Once the 12V hits it, it should be open until the emissions CPU tells it to close (by opening the ground). My guess would be a bad ground - or bad fuel cutoff switch. Many here just ground it directly so it is open 100% of the time. You may try that to see if it is a ground issue.

yah im figuring thats what i'll do. it just pisses me off becuase its not older than two years. the PO actualls just smashed the little nozzle on the end but it kept dieseling so bought a new one.
thanks

Does it always open and close immediately? If it works fine grounded out, then it could be the emissions board. Have to look at my manual but maybe whatever gives feedback to the emissions board is not working like the vacuum switch and the board is good but something else is broke and telling it to close when it should not close.

i havent heard of the emissions board. hmmmm

It is in the kick panel on the drivers side. It shows the pin layout in the smog manual on the page with the main diagrams.

im having issues with my 60 too, it runs in choke mode only. where da heck is the fuel cutoff solenoid located?

It is plugged into the big green connector on the side of the carb that clips into a metal tab on the carb. It screws into the carb.

This isn;t right. Start by checking the fusible link at the battery. That is a comon cause of mal-function - it won't idel without the choke out.

i already checked the fusable link, i bypassed it, it still runs the same way.
