I've been meaning to do a thread on my ATF temp guage. Big thanks to Mitch (archtimb) for the idea of where to put it (he did it first) and for helping me figure out the wireing.

I used one of Rodney's guages because it came with my transmission when I got it.

This first picture shows where I put it. There is just enough room to cut a hole in the panel and fit it. Measure twice and cut once because if you cut it wrong it won't fit.

I took my gauge apart down to the smallest parts so that I could use the housing to draw a hole. I cut it with my dremel on the lowest setting so that the plastic didn't melt.

This picture also shows my dual battery switch. (just left of the cig lighter) I can do a thread on how I did that too if anyone's interested.

For the wireing:

I wired everything just like stock except for one thing.

I didn't use the ground (black) wire going to the back of the bulb. I hooked that ground side on the back of the bulb to the ground on the back of the light for the cig lighter. This is how I made the light in the ATF temp gauge dim along with the dash.

To figure out which wire to hook it up to connect your test light to the wires on the back of the cig lighter. When the test light dims along with the dash you have found your wire.

This fuzzy picture shows the back of my guage. You can see the origional ground wire hanging loose (pointing up) and the new wire to the bulb (red) that's connected to the cig lighter bulb.
