Just heard back from TJM in OZ hat this bumper isn't one of theirs.

They thought it was a brand called Aussie out of Sydney Australia. I can't find any info about that brand online, or who would have sold it in the US. Any help?

Thats the almost the exact bumper that I have on mine. I painted mine black though. Mine came from Australia by way of Japan from a buddy in the service over there.

Seems like a decent bumper, and the price for mine was right (free -traded for some welding work). Looks way better black IMO.

I the sun ever returns, I'll take a pic of it for you.

Greg,

I see you got the bumper o.k. It looks great on your rig. I am sorry for the mix up on the brand. I hope you are still happy with it. Shoot me an e-mail if you like.

Clint,
I'm still happy with it, and the mix up is no fault of yours. Even TJM thought for a while that it was an old version of theirs.

The only reason I'm looking in to it is to find out what winch applications work well with the bumper by design.

Thanks

Its made by Formula Offroad in Sydney, a similar one is made by Protecta-bar in Ferntree Gully Victoria (near Melbourne)

Cheers
Dave

Should have mentioned, both are designed originally to fit a Warn 9000 lb electric winch (which is the norm down here)

You go & buy a bumper & don't tell me.........good swag!

Congrats friend!:grinpimp:

Just following your lead! Since all of your trucks have winches, will you call me next time ya'll find a hookup? I really want the 9.5xp.

Turns out it isn't made for a cruiser. Intended for a Range Rover. I'm trying to find out what model. The weird tabs on it are to hold the plastic skirt underneath.

The factory said I shouldn't use a winch with it. I've inquired as to why. I'm thinking that if I make my own winch mount directly to the frame behind the bumper, then mount a hawse to the bumper it shouldn't stress the bumper. We'll see what they say.

This takes one back a few posts LOL. Most aliminium bars are fitted with a steel cradle to allow a winch to be fitted.Usually most people change to a steel bar for a winch as the modifications and cradle equal the change over cost. cheers

Gees blokes, You do not get any protection from aliminium bars at all. They are only good for hanging lights off and pushing light brush. Most need fitting with an internal steel cage to take a winch. They are not strong.

Thats false, there was a company now out of business called Aussie Bull Bar that made a phenominal quality winch bumper, which that one strongly resembles, and TJM makes a great aluminum winch bar also.

You have a bit to learn about bull bars before you make a statement like that mate.

Thanks for the info bigbrowndog. I'm looking in to the cradle now. I think I'll stick with this bumper for the weight savings and look. I don't like where it sits on the truck now, but I'm planning on fabing a bracket that will make it sit higher and tilted back towards the truck a bit.

There has been a tendency in Oz for the newer bullbars to be tilted back to make them more pedestrian friendly and acceptable. But these bars are said to be more likely to lift a decent Roo or animal up and onto the bonnet [hood] and into the cab. The older bars you will notice were shaped to throw an animal down and away hopefully.I am not sure what wildlife you have in your area. cheers
