80 DOA now 40 DOUBLE cab

Well it is coming up on my six month anniversary of side swiping my 80 series. The insurance company totaled it out but I bought it back for a song because I done all the work to it (PHH, head gasket, front end rebuild with new birfs) and the truck had lots of life left to it. With the passenger side scraped off and both of those doors never going to function again it has sat in my driveway for a while. Watching the progress on the Aqualu 40/80 series cab I thought to myself what better to do. I called up Mike “Big Mike” Francis at Rock Solid performance in Hemet So Cal as I had seen his work with a V8 conversion on a FJ60 here in town and he told me he was interested in the project. To save some cash I have stripped off the body to save for later but I am delivering the chassis over this winter break to start the build in the new year. I am so excited I am thinking about creaming my shorts.

I think Big Mike is doing the blow by blow build on the website and updates on the shop facebook page.

There was a vote and call in to Aqualu to build a tub to fit the 80 chassis. I voted for the bad boy. Talked to Mike today and will be running chassis out this weekend!

looking forward to this

I've been wanting to do this for a while (since the Stillen concept actually - http://www.bing.com/images/search?q...09D02AE4CE43C499CA4FA2649591D&selectedIndex=0), I would have done it when I totaled my SC'd 97 in 2003 but the insurance company wanted way too much to keep it.

Are you doing a pickup bed behind the quad cab?
