Does someone have pictures of their fuel lines from the fuel pump to the tank, maybe some underneath if possible. Years matching a 78 fj40. Greatly appreciated.

Hey kid, sorry I don't have a pic on hand.... But whats your question? I just routed mine so might be as to help if you have a more specific question....

Ok, I'm assuming the big line gets connected to the fuel filter then to the suction on the tank but the 2 similiar ones I'm confused about. I'm thinking they are return lines but how do they go? Thanks

Ok pretty simple I will try to verbalize this best I can. Two matching lines are feed and return. The crazy zig zag has to do with fuel evap seperator.

Your two matching lines run the lengths of your passenger inside frame rail. One is slightly larger in length and bend it goes on bottom the other on top. Stacked on top of one another secured to frame rail. They should start just under charcoal canister running straight back the frame rail. I chose the bottom of the two to be my feed line as it is lower. Wouldn't matter which one you choose I just did that cause it seemed logical when lining up to manual fuel pump.

Your second line does a zig-zag under your truck body. You should see a whole near the gas inlet that runs straight through the truck body. From underneath shove that standing hardline straight up through that hole (grommet /should be one there in the hole) and it will attach to the top line coming off your fuel evaporator separator. You have to feed that through a pretty large blank space as it comes up. I was alone so I stuck a coat hanger down the hole - allowed the gas line to follow coat hanger up and through.

(memory here) it should end up near the charcoal canister. Eventually hooked to it. Depending on what you have done under your body you should have tabs to secure it and it will just be where it is. I am sure it is engineered in zig-zag for a reason.

Once you get the vertical line in just look around it will make sense as to where it goes. If I had my truck here I would go snap a shot for ya.

Feel free to ask if I lost you somewhere.... I am looking for pics now.... might get lucky we shall see.??

First pic shows where the "zig zag" comes out. Vertical goes up behind passenger seat into seperator.

Two mathcing hardlines run stacked down the inside of passenger frame rail... Pic sucks. Longer one to the bottom of the two. You will see why. I used bottom as the feed to pump, just because it was on the bottom and from bottom of tank.

Can I ask some fuel line questions? I am restoring a 66 FJ45LV, thread on 45 forum. My engine is a 79 2F from a FJ55. No smog stuff. Need help w fuel lines. I believe I will only have one line, which runs down passenger side? My old 45 tank has two funk vent tubes on top which run up to a couple of breathers that are built into the body. Sorry no pic. I guess those are vents for tank, maybe bc of baffles in tank to separate into halves? There is a hole in the top of the tank for sending unit and I guess a pickup. I took this thing apart 5-6 years ago and don't remember this part plus this is a custom blend of old truck and newer motor. Thanks for the help. Also, if flexible fuel line is 5/16" what size is the hard line?
