For some reason my original build thread was deleted...so I'm making a new thread for these new additions....

Well, my new 40 took a trip up to Iron Pig Offroad in Virginia and came back with a few additions I thought I might share with ya'll.

When the 40 was first bought, it was advertised as a complete frame-off with a rebuilt engine, which we slowly but surely figured out wasn't the case. It started with a small oil drip, but continued on leaking until finally it started blowing oil going down the highway. We took it to a local shop, and had the engine completely rebuilt (which took over a month). When it got back, it was on to IPOR.

First off was the MetalTech "Jackson cage", which we had powder coated as opposed to paint. I think personally it turned out really well. Not too detailed of a pic but you get the general idea.

Next up was the power steering. IPOR recommended the 60 series swap so that's what we did. They also installed a new DUI (Davis Unified Ignition) distributor under the hood. I must say I'm much happier now that I don't break a sweat turning out of the garage anymore.

Finally, they installed a new rear bumper to carry my spare and hi-lift, and we covered that nasty hole in the dash left from the original radio with a plate I'm going to use for toggle switches when they're actually needed.

Sadly, we've noticed tonight that it's leaking antifreeze, but hopefully it's just a loose clamp or bad hose and an easy fix. I gotta say though, it feels good to have the 40 back now and I'm looking forward to actually making it to some events.

IPOR is a great outfit with a quality staff for sure. Good on you for supporting Mud's supporting vendors!!!.....and yeah, very nice rig!

Nice rig! Now build a tag holder that fits in the spare tire and you'll be done. Well, you're never really done!

Hi All:

Nice rig Will!

Sorry, but were you at the Foothills brew pub in W-S in July with the rest of the Olde North State Cruisers gang that met up with me there? "Rutbeer" was there with his nice turbo-diesel 40 Series.

Regards,

Alan

No, I didn't have the 40 yet, I was in "transition" from a FJC, plus I'm sure I was tied down with summer school.

And Poser, could you PM me the link...I searched the exact thread title and I couldn't seem to find it....
