Well I have a 68 fj40 with an f engine and just put a 4speed tranny and tcase. I used the rear drive shaft on the front because it was long enough....well I was under there today and there seems to be some slop meaning I can push it up and down and left to right where the long part of the shaft goes into the short part. Now I did read about having it lined up correctly....I may not have it lined up....I'm gonna look under my 60 tomorrow and see if clues me in. Also there is like a sleeve the goes over the short part and then over the long part...not sure why it's there...but it moves back and forth. How much of the long shaft should be inside the short part. Thanks for the help.

The flanges need to line up so that the U-Joints don't bind up (Red). These are lined up correctly... (note: U-Joint end caps are lined up).

The cover (blue) is a seperate piece but should not be loose.

As for the amount of travel it all depends on how you use your rig. My driveline shop recommended an inch of inward travel but I don't do hard core wheeling. With that being said, it is slid in with AT LEAST an inch MORE inward travel to go. Clear as mud? Someone else here may have a better suggestion.

Hey Dom thanks for the picture....clears it up for me.....I have the blue one attached like in the pic and then there is another one that is in the same direction as the one in the pic and is loose. It's got me confused on why the PO had that loose piece on there. Thanks again Dom...you went above the call man...thanks

Chuck
