T-Case shifter conversion question

My '69 FJ40 has dash controls to operate the transfer case and they don't work. I would like to convert it to a floor shifter and eliminate the 6 miles of linkage, and vacuum parts. Can I use the shift assemb. out of a newer 'cruiser? Can I make something out of scatch easily? I am running a 327, SM420, orig 3spd t-case.

You will need the shift linkage assembly from the front nose cone of a 3 speed transfer case along with the linkage between the high/low and 2wd/4wd shifters.
