There is a story behind this, but I just need some quick answers for now.

Can you please let me know if your A/C system resets to 75 degrees, AUTO off every time you leave the vehicle for over an hour.

Long story short, Toyota is claiming this is normal operation while I know for a fact it is not. (Um -- what's the point in remote start then ). This is coming directly from Toyota FTS.

I just would like you all to post below and state if your A/C resumes to the way you left it.

I will go further into the details of this matter later -- but for now, could you all do me a favor and reply.

Thanks guys!

JB, just set my temp to 77 driver, 76 passenger. Will check again in an hour.

Do you want us to turn the a.c auto on at the lowest setting while we are driving and then at some point leave the vehicle turned off for an hour or two. Than come back and see if it's still at the lowest setting in auto?

That would work. It really doesn't matter what the temp is set at, just does it reset to 75 on the screen and AUTO is OFF.

For example, set it to xx for driver and something different for passenger. Push the auto button.

The test is whether it resets to 75, or does it stay where you leave it?

Also, from the time that you start the car, approximately how long does it take for the A/C to kick in?

Remember -- if you leave the cooler box on, the A/C will not turn off all the way. Mine just turns the AUTO function off.

JB, first test done. You already know the settings, turned off at 11:05am, turned on at 12:25pm. All settings retained - driver 77, passenger 76.

I have to run a couple of errands and will check again.

Thanks don! Do you by chance have toyota's remote start unit installed?

my previous settings have never reset (72). i don't have the remote starter.

I have stock remote start.

JBHorne,

Tested mine this afternoon and it didn't reset, stayed at 70 on both sides. I don't have remote start.

sbly

JB, beginning to look like there might by a bug in the system. I'll post in the morning.

No changes on my settings.

I have checked my A.C for the last several days and it works fine. I did several different tests.

1. set driver/passenger side to 68f on auto. After three hours, I turned the truck on and was still set @ 68f on auto.

2. set drive side to 65F and passenger @ 68F on auto and while I was driving. LC200 was then turned off for six hours because I forgot to check it after two hours. :p Turned it on and everything was set at 65f and 68f on auto.

FTS are a bunch of liars if they say your a.c is normal. Mine has never defaulted back to a different temp than previously set. Punch them in the face for me. :hillbilly:

Thanks guys for the help. I really appreciate it.

I have a meeting with a new FTS next week who is flying in just to see this (from a different regional office). Apparently he agrees with me...who would have thunk

In case we run into a service dumb wall somewhere along the way, post a photo of him so we can request him personally. Good luck with meeting and let us know how it goes.

We have a 2010 Land Cruiser that just started doing EXACTLY JB's LC was doing. Can anyone please tell me what the resolution was for this? We've had ours in to the dealer twice with no luck. The second time they even reproduced the issue but claimed they compared it to another LC and it did the same thing (so there was nothing wrong).

Help!!

It's been a while, so I don't recall all the details, but behind the glove box is a motor attached to an arm which redirects air flow either through or around the cabin air filter. If this arm gets stuck, the system will attempt a reset. Check and make sure this arm is working correctly. I think you can see it through the back of the glove box when the cabin air filter is removed.

Hey JBHorne,

I'm having this same problem on my newly required 08. Do you have any detailed pics of this arm? Is this something that can be done by myself reaching the through the cabin air filter access.

Thanks
Kyle

make sure you set the aircon to 'Recirculate' before you attempt to remove the filtre. Otherwise you will break the filtre directional brackets - and then there will be tears.:crybaby:
