I know there are several threads on this subject. A few days before I bought my LX I was already researching this problem. I don't understand why Toyota didn't just do black tint to start with. Looks way better imo. Anyway I lurked in several threads on here and stopped by and saw my old boss who does tint at a local shop and first we tried some LLUMAR ATR bronze 35%. I was nowhere near satisfied with the results. At an angle the tint looked like a good match but standing directly in front of the windows facing them it was a horrible match. I called a tint shop I saw in a thread where an 80 series had been dual layered to make a close match and asked them what they had done. That was my next option. However I was at another audio shop I used to manage when my friend showed me this ceramic Viper 30% film. They had given him 25 feet to try on a new BMW M5 and he had just enough left to do two fronts. So he gave me the film and I stopped by today and let my old boss Bobby give it a try. In my opinion this is one of the closest if not the closest match I have ever seen on the 98-03 100 with mirrored windows. At certain angles the fronts have a tad more bronze in them but at most angles it is a very close match. I am happy with the result and will go back soon and do some 30-35 of something else on my whole front w/s. Let me know what you guys think...

You have just solved the most perplexing issue we have ever attempted to collectively work through as a group! Post #39 and he's being called up to the FAQ (hopefully). Good work!

Your next task is to figure out how much we realistically need for the fronts and then to set up a group buy. This should be an easy task as all you have to do is have the tint shop cut the fronts and then you can pack them in some tube mailers. Make sure to secure the plastic caps on them as I have had a tube arrive with nothing in it. Add a profit since you solved one of major annoyances that the OCD crowd has with the older 100s, post frequently and prepare for the Mud Hall of Fame.

I need specifics on the shop and the film I am not far away!

Pfran thanks alot for the props. If I still worked at that shop doing this would be very easy. However I work for DHS now and extra time is hard to come by these days. I am getting the guy who laid the film to get me a model number tomorrow off the roll he threw in the trash so we know exactly what it's called. I would normally just get the shop I used to work at buy a roll and handle this but I don't want to ruin my rep on here so soon. They would never fulfill orders because they stay way too busy and concentrate mainly on home audio now. I will talk it over with my wife and see if she would be interested in us purchasing a roll and her do the mailing and paypal since she is out of work right now. I can't promise anything though because from what I recall a roll of this stuff is several hundred dollars. It may take me a couple days but I will see if I can get a price on a roll, the model number etc. Then at least people can call local tint shops and ask if they carry that particular film for right now.

Unlimited Audio/Elite Home Theaters. However I doubt John would order a roll just for a couple semi local cars. I know him and know how busy he stays so if you would be interested in purchasing the roll and doing the mailing that would be cool. Call Jacob tomorrow there at the shop 256-835-6400. He is one of my best friends and next door neighbor. He will do what he can but I can almost guarantee he won't order a roll unless you wanna buy it and take it with you. Hit him up and see.

**ALSO, just found out the shop where the tint was laid(Sight and Sound) can get Viper film also. Call Bobby 256-435-2392. Tell him David sent you.

I'd be in for a set. I'm sure the 80 series guys would snatch it up as well. I bought my front llumar tint from a guy on the 80 forum splitting a roll. I matches in some light, but the ceramic is a better match. I couldn't find any of it locally.
It matches at some angles

She is getting back in town today so I will see what she says. This film seems to match very closely in conditions with alot of light and I noticed this morning you can definately see a difference between the two early in the morning. Front windows definately have more bronze in them. Doesn't bother me, still looks better than the other...

That looks great!! So from reading your thread, did you remove the LLumar and put on the Viper? Or is the Viper on top of the LLumar? And what percent tint did you do in the back?

Subscribed and ready to buy........

Um wouldn't it be easier to just call some local shops to see if they carry it if you know the brand and model? That's what I did when I got my Llumar bronze 50%. Infact, I got lucky and the first shop I called had it. It's just tint, not a holy grail...

My local places won't order it either. I would love to buy enough for my front two windows. It is getting hot now that summer is here.

Please let us know some more info when you get a chance.

I removed the llumar and laid the viper film.

I was helping folks get the llumar film on the 80 series board a few years back. It is outstanding film (warranty, UV block, etc..)

Looks like the Viper film is a better match color wise.
Do you have any pics from the interior?

I don't have any pics from inside looking out. I can try that maybe today. In low light like early morning or dusk you can definately tell a difference. The Viper film has more bronze to it. However when it's sunny out it's very close. I will do my best to see if I can get a roll and help people out on here. I really don't have much time between working and my daughter and my wife stays home with her so if I could talk her into it maybe she would be up for doing it from home. That just depends on her because she stays pretty active with Kayleigh and stays gone alot. Worst case scenario I could get my buddy to hook someone up on a roll and they could do it.

Nice job. Definitely looks like a tighter match than the Llumar, which is what I have also. Subscribed...

If you can't be a buyer for this tint, can you get us some information on the model number, and specs. Then my local shop might be able to order something, or maybe we can find some online to start a group buy on.

I know a tint shop owner as well that I may be able to get him to order if I have the model number and spec.
