Guys, there is a TSB for this affecting 98 LX470's. I don't know if they fixed it in 99 LC's. Hopefully, this will get rid of your bird's chirpin'.

To help eliminate a rattle noise caused by movement from the back door wire attach a piece of sponge, L: 82 mm, W: 50 mm and T: 5 mm, from the Interior Noise Kit (P/N 08231-00801) to the back door wire as shown.

The noise kit looks like its just a sponge.

Different door.

I will try that. Thank you.

PS - I swear it sounds like the sound is coming from the drivers side back door. I will install bird noice cancellation kit (sponge) and report back.

I say go to you kitchen and grab a sponge from there. A little trimming and some black tape and you got it.

Oh, back passenger door! I thought you meant driver's side of the rear hatch. Well, hopefully this works for you.

I will try anything. The bird is an aggrevating little bugger.

Guys,

I checked, I already have the sponge thingie. More research done tonight. If I roll the drivers side rear window down one inch there is no bird noise. Very Strange. Do I need to install more window felt or something? Any ideas? Lets get this bird out of my LC.

Thanks,

I had a similiar problem, I took the inner door panel off and adjusted the window glass up, so it would snug up tighter. The bird noise is basically gone, still have a small noise every now and then.

Very cool. How do I get the door panel off? any secrets or threads on the back door panel.

Thanks,

Check the door check arm bolts

The door check arm bolts come loose alot of the time and can produce noises (creaking) when opening and closing the door, and in some cases, noises when driving- I loctited all bolts on all 4 doors on my 98'-

On it, like Oprah on a Canned Ham.

Thanks guys,

Found my bird

I have also had a very annoying "bird chirping" sound which seemed to be coming from the rear seats. I found my problem last night, it is the drivers armrest which is monted to the drivers seat console side. Whenever I would hit a bump or go into a turn which would cause me to put weight on the armrest it would squeak.

It drove me nuts because the sound was so intermitant due to it only happening when my weight was on the armrest.

Go out and beat on the arm rest or lean on it, I had to put quiet a bit of force to reproduce but there was no doubt it was the source.

I dont have a fix yet but as soon as I do I will post.

Fixed The Noise!

The bird noise is dead. Basically, where the upper part of the door trim attaches to the door, you have metal on metal. I used double sided tape to keep the metal from the door trim from touching the metal on the door. There are about 5 places on the door metal that need some kind of buffer. The door metal is about as thick as a piece of card board. I put double sided tape on both sides of the car door metal. When you remove the door panel this is so obvious. Not sure why they designed it that way. A little felt and would have never heard a bird.

This can be done in about 10 minutes. The hardest part was removing the door handle bezel. The picture in the Repair Manual Volume 2 is not good. The screw driver should be inserted between the door handle and the trim bezel not the trim bezel and the door panel. Also, I suggest an electric screw driver.

I hope this helps others.

Keeping the bird alive

I am glad to hear someone got rid of their bird noise but mine still presist.

I earlier posted that mine was the drivers armrest, it is not. It is the seat belt receptor on the drivers seat. In certain positions the squeak is there and if you move the receptor around it goes away. Trying to figure out how to repair, any suggestions.

Thought I would keep this going to prevent anyone else from having to convince their wife to drive around and bounce up and down in the seat while I lay in the back floorboard. Found the squeak and she still thanks I'm nuts. Her fix, turn up the radio.

Turning up the radio was my wife's fix also.

You guys should just get a Tahoe. You would never hear such nitpicky little noises in a GM vehicle. :D

Silicone spray? Lithium Grease? If you can get them on there they could not hurt!?!

You'd be so damn excited to hear the engine turn over .................. :)

MMuzj100,

Had a Tahoe, you couldnt hear the squeaks because of all the rattles. :)

Buy my Suburban. Your freinds could be shooting skeet out the rear barn doors and you'd never hear it over the 6.2. :D
