Is that on a LX?

Hey,

So I just got my car back from Man-a-Fre!

They put a ARB Deluxe Bull Bar on my 1999 LX470, they had to modify some tabes on it so the hood could fly open. The tech told me the mounting was on the dot. There just some huge tabs on the top part of the Bar that had to be cut out. The front lip on a LX470 is diffrent from the LC. Just waiting on my lights, the Slee sliders should go great with the ARB bulbar! The AHC handles the bullbar great! Would the AHC also handle a WINCH? Not sure what kind of Winch yet!

I have an ARB Sahara bar with a Warn winch and IPF lights on it, and a Kaymar rear bar on my 1999 LX470 and the AHC has not had any problems with it.

Did you replace your torsion bars and rear springs or no?

NO, The set up is still as it came from the factory.

looks great. I was told by several sources that only the Sahara would fit on the LX, I guess that means without the mods :)
How much "extra" did you have to pay for the "custom" install?

Val,

The LC has a larger diameter torsion bar. You could use the LC torsion bar on the LX instead if you need more load. I gave my stock LC torsion bars to someone with an LX and he has not used them yet. If he is not going to use them, you can have them. I'll let you know next time I see him.

Not that much!

LOL

excuse my ignorance - but why would somebody put a bull bar on if they didn't want a winch? Is it looks?

Thanks,

Looks like a 3413060 bar(could be a 3413050), I reckon the anntenna mounts would have squeezed in but may have been in the way of the hood latch, or possibly a design restriction having something too close to the hood when an accident occurs and not being able to get to the hood latch.

Well,

I do want to put a winch on but its not a main priority, I use the tow strap a bit more. I'll post a vid or pick of the hood opening!

Also, the Cb Airial mounts were cut off, mainly that was the only modifaction to the bar that tooks place, with them the hood didn't open but now it does.

I didn't do it for looks, mainly every modded LX has a ARB Sahara Bar, I'll have a Deluxe. Also it is stronger and offers more protection than a Sahara but they both are great.

Here are some pictures of my LX470 with a Sahara bar and rear Kaymar bar.

val, cool they could fit the LC bumper. I've seen pictures of a Cygnus (with the LX front end) with the same bumper and wondered how they did it. I wonder if the TJM T3 is just as easy to fit to an LX.

xlr8it, Nice rig, seems like there are very few LX's in Australia.

Maybe it's because they cost like $90K USD!!!

Yup, when I was there, I saw hundreds of LC's but maybe only 5-6 Lexus's.

Rare as Rocking horse sh!t !

That is why it is great to own one over here , people get very suprised when I take it off road.

Not sure where that stuff was last found in OZ or the US, but I think it's rarer than hens teeth!

xlr8it, sweet rig!

I also love those clear corner lights.

Thanks Val678
The clear corner lights are standard in OZ.
