Hunter sprinkler Hex Key Size

Anyone out there know the size hex key to adjust Hunter sprinklers?

Yes, I know, *you* can buy the Hunter key cheap & easy up there, but nobody down here (costa rica) seems to have the dang thing.

And I would just try various keys till I get it right, but the head is pretty full of mud.

So if anyone happens to know, Thanks!

i-20

but I took it apart yesterday trying to figure it out on my own and something isn't right.
Either the Arc adjustment doesn't have a hex at all, or it fell out at some point.

Regardless, it appears that at the moment I'm stuck with about 340 degrees of arc. In a corner. My fence get's plenty of water :(

The arc adjustment tip should have a hex screw holding it in. The farther you screw the set screw down the less arc and the more spray you get.

There should be a different screw for the side to side motion. You start by turning the head all the way to the left and you will hear a click. You tighten the screw for less side to side movement. You turn it all the way to the right to see the new movement. You keep adjusting until you get it were you think you want it.

It is easiset if you screw just the base back onto the upright in the ground. With the head locked over in the left or starting position you adjust the right movement.

hmmm

based on your description, something doesn't sound right with the equipt. No worries, however, I'm probably going to phase out the head anyway-- I'm reducing the size of my lawn dramatically, and can get away with the cheap n easy little spray heads I've got around the perimeter.

I may take another stab at it w/this head in the meantime. But I'm working through new-house triag. When I can't fix something "easy", I move on to the other "easy" jobs. Once those are done (if ever) I'll come back to the more stubborn fixes.

thanks for your help!

If you can find the RainBird 5000 series heads down there you will be happy. In CA they are around $10.00. I ended up replacing all my hunters with them. I have a 24station irrigation timer and take care of about 5 acres.

When a Hunter needed repaired or cleaned, it came out and a Rainbird went in.

good advice!
thanks

as we get deeper into the dry season (hasn't rained since December), I get to appreciate the sprinkler system more.

I have a box of hunters in my shop that I took out of the ground. You can have them for the shipping cost. I will even stop by Ewing Irrigation and get you the Hunter Key so you can adjust them all you want.

thanks for the offer, but I suspect that shipping to Costa Rica would probably cost me about the same as just buying the heads here!
