Washing machine repair help

I was just given a Kenmore 80 series washer that only works every now and then. Everything seems to work fine, but it won't always fill with water. Any ideas? Switch gone bad or a solenoid? I was hoping to get clues where to work before I start probing around with the multi meter.

Thanks,
Brittain

When it does fill with water is the flow of water just a trickle, does the hot water flow faster then the cold? If so it should be the solenoid.

This site will help too.

Good luck,
