Log splitter is a SpeeCo 22 ton. It splits anything I have put in it.
I had to google the Mahogany species (Cercocarpus Ledifolious) curleaf mahogany. Everyone around here calls it mountain mahogany. We only find it in the higher elevations. It is never very big around and is always twisted. You dont want to fill your stove with it. It burns so hot it can turn your stove red.

Thanks, I have splitter envy. I want a 28T. Right now I have a 'freetome' splitter that does the job, but is very poorly balanced and low to the ground, but it does the job.

Here's the ultimate splitter......

I had a miserable week with some great moments. Dinner with PismoJm and a brief visit to SnT. (I went to SnT to drop some parts off for some club members and other mudders who were broke down and then had to head back home.)

I needed to go to my "Happy Place".

Pics of Large Oak wood cutting adventure.

It is not even my firewood.

Want to plan SnT for next year? I'm thinking I need something to do in Nov...

Impressive chip piles (funny how some of us get off on that, lol).
Wow, that looks like it would have made some nice dimensional lumber, does that stuff check as badly as our red oak?

Also looks like you wore your helper out.

This was the crotch area of the tree. A lot of internal tension so if I made it into lumber, it would have split.

I had a 32" diameter limb from the same tree cut for lumber a few months ago.

I thought so also. Is your machine a backhoe? (Just saw pics of some tasty slabs hangin' off the loader bucket). Curious if that setup would split our hard **s oak.

Looks like an easy mod, get to work and let us know.

No backhoe. Mine's a reg tractor with front loader. My neighbor has a backhoe 3-pt attachment for the back of his tractor, and I think that would work, but not as effective as that video. I bet it would split your oak, though. Those outriggers produce enough down pressure to lift the tractor up.

Hopefully the guy in that video doesnt grab the backhoe swing lever His swing might be on the peddle.
