60 gallon Compressor

I am looking to buy a new compressor. I know the say buy once, buy big, buy the best you can, but I can't do that. So here are my options below.

Can people comment on these? I haven't heard any first hand reports, and would like to know some things.

If you have one of these please comment on the following.
  1. How well does it handle every day stuff?
  2. How well does it handle a paint gun and what gun (CFM too)
  3. What else do you do with it and how does it do (i.e. plasma cutter, sandblasting, blasting cabinet, etc).
  4. Reliability
  5. Is it excessively oily?
Thanks!!!

don't remember what mine is and it's too damn cold outside to go check...think it's a porter cable. same specs though. handles everyday stuff awesome. haven't painted with it yet, but a buddy paints with a 5h/60g compressor with no issues. i've cranked it at an external regulator to 150 for blasting with no issues except i had residual oil in the air lines since i run an inline oiler. i've since bought a seperate line to put on with a dual dryer setup for paint/blasting, but havent' used it yet.

I have the Ingersoll Rand compressor. It works well, but if I had to do it again, I'd look at at 2 stage compressor for more CFMs.

Don't get too concerned about HP ratings. CFM and duty cycle is more important.

Huskys are made by Campbell Hausfeld.

I would vote to pass on all those and buy a quality used compressor.

Even if you don't buy from them these people give a lot of factual information in their site that's sometimes hard to find....http://www.eatoncompressor.com/page/page/504413.htm

CFM's are the measure to attend to - the glitzy decals all over many models are just consumer hype.

Most paintguns will spray with almost any pressure behind them but they each have a minimum volume of air needed for correct design atomization to occur. For that reason it could be smarter to pick the paintgun you intend to use and then pick the air compressor that supplies the specified minimum volume in cubic feet per minute.

Sandblasting uses TONS of air.
