Good winch mounting idea.

The Intelligent Winch Innovation | The Intelligent Winch

Nice idea but to much changes needed at the vehicle bumper, the winch and its even turning to much below the bumper.

Even better would be a winch with a vertical drum like the Hickey Sidewinder in the early days of wheeling, but somehow none of the known brands has something like that on he market, as far as i know.

Soooo i guess there would be a market for something different.

I see crazy spooling issues.

I also see the winch pivoting and digging right into the mud/ground/rocks. It's not an easy thing to do to try to control a winch that wants to move with 8,000 pounds of pull on it.

It works good on a Rover stuck on flat ground.

Bet you could pull a rabbit out of a hat with that winch.

A Hickey Sidewinder revival would be fair enough, i wonder why none of the chinese brands did not come up with it yet.

Hi All:

What is that, a Warn ATV winch?

The line feed mechanism is an interesting idea, but the pivoting winch mount strikes me as not a great design.

All in all I don't think the intelligent winch designer has ever buried a vehicle in a mud hole!

Regards,

Alan

I cant honestly see much if any benefit to this.
Way too much is going to be invested in it for the gains if any.

Money would be better a set on a decent set of tires for that rover. Or a decent rig i.e. e-locked cruiser!

Is this supposed to help with spooling up too much wire rope in a single spot on the winch? If not, I don't see what its supposed to do. They never really give an explanation in the video.

its got a hoop that has an eye through it which senses which way the cable is pulling from if you look closely. The hoop then talks to some sort of electronics to rotate the winch based on what position the cable is pulling from.

I could see a mechanical system that works like an "ambassador fishing reel" having some benefits, but this system looks over complicated with sensors and electronics, a big no-no for the mud wheeling crowd.
