| Can you use a billet alloy fairlead with wire rope? G'day Guys,
I was wondering if someone could help me. I have a winch that runs regular 8mm wire rope. Can anyone recommend brand of billet style fairlead that is durable enough to use with wire rope or do I have to use the roller style?
Cheers,
Ben |

| you need that cast iron hawse like Niner said. aluminum hawse is too soft and the wire will shred it apart in no time.

| I guess if it's en route it's a bit late to mention this, but most shops that install winches will sell you one cheaper, lots of winches come with the hawse, lots of people upgrade to the roller, so shops end up with a pile of the hawse ones kicking around that were paid for by the winch purchase, but the customer didn't want
I got mine for $25, unused
