I plan to use this thread to introduce new additions to the Guild and provide a bit more info about what they offer.
Right now my first compatriot is Erik Johnson who you guys know as slcfj62. He's been a great forum resource for some common cruiser electrical problems, and even went through the effort to post a detailed fix for the sluggish 62 power windows.
After a bunch of problems and frustration with the few headlight wiring upgrades available for the wagons Erik sat down and figured out a system of his own, one that I think you will be very impressed with.
We've been working together behind the scenes for awhile now, the harnesses have been working out great and Erik is comfortable with the production so I've made up an order page on my site for his business.
You can check out the details of his project
here:
Or the simple breakdown on my site
here:
Since I like to poke and prod at things Erik sent me one of the 60 series ultimate harnesses to play with, I took some photos to share with you guys:
The whole harness waiting for my grubby little fingers
The bottom of the water-proof fuse box, I love the details, nice and neat.
Look at the gauge on the feed wires, 10 gauge, sweet.
Install couldn't be any simpler, details again, right length wires for a custom fit to the terminals, check out the fusible link on the power side as well, the whole thing is protected.
High quality shrink wrap and wire shield.
Plug this into the OE plug, plug the lights into the new sockets, done.
Everything's switched with fuse-protected standard relays, all the replacement parts are common even at your local parts store.
Check out that water seal on the box, no salty water getting in there.
Two extra relays installed and ready for.....whatever you like.
Heat shrink again, notice the little bit of glue squeeze-out. Erik's using the nice adhesive backed stuff, even these joints are water-proof.
The whole thing again since it's so purty.
I'm not the best at electric work and I really wish this had been available before I started butchering the wires in my truck. Makes me want to go back and replace everything.
