Post your SSC Logo ideas here
At our last meeting we were discussing a logo consisting of Mt. Rainier in the background with an FJ Cruiser crossing a stream with a tree to one side...
Let's see 'em!

I've got some good ideas, just not a graphics designer. Maybe I'll see if my wife can help me. Nothing fancy, something along the lines of the picture below without the city and a FJ in some trees. But more in a "stick" type of drawing like the FJ logo on this site. Maybe somebody could photo shop in an FJ and just take the outlines of the FJ, mountain, tress, and water? And put it in a circle with South Sound Cruisers, Washington State around it...

I have actually sent a few friends this message to see what they could come up with:
We are looking for a round logo with Mt. Rainier in the background a FJ Cruiser in the foreground crossing a rocky stream at a 45 degree angle with a tree on one side and maybe a salmon jumping in the stream on the other… The title South Sound Cruisers should be on the logo somewhere too…
Here is a 45 degree shot of the FJ Cruiser you can get creative with aggressive tires, bumper with a winch, etc.

The colors that can be used for the FJC are Black Cherry, Voodoo Blue, Sun Fusion Yellow, Titanium Metallic and Black Diamond here:

That's funny my wife said the SAME thing! I just sent an email to my graphic artist buddy to see if he can draw up both designs...
Anyone making headway with a design?

Scott sent me this old draft logo that was never officially used at Wilderness Toys. It would be pretty easy to replace Wilderness Toys with South Sound Cruisers if this ends up being the logo we choose.
We need few more so we can have a vote, anyone?

This is what I'm thinking as far as a logo is concerned... It is plainly obvious I have zero graphic artist talent, so if anyone does we could use your help!

I like this Brian. I wonder if it would be too much to had the Tacoma Dome behind the FJC and the Capital Dome behind the 40. Then there would be not doubt it is the South Sound .

Brian, did you ever decide if your club would be wanting professional assistance with your logo for SSC? Would be interested in working on this with your guys if you did, keep me posted, Richard

A couple of guys who "owe" me are working on the design right now and if they come through then no we won't need your services.
If they don't then you will be the first one we call.
Thanks for checking in!

Curtis is about done with the vector graphic of the FJ Cruiser, he says the FJ40 will be a way easier due to its straight lines. When this is completed we can use any color we want and overlay it on any background...
Couple more weeks!

FIRST rough draft. The FJC & FJ40 are almost done and were drawn separately so they can be placed anywhere on the logo. Need to find and scale the correct mountain. You guys have any suggestions for the final layout?

The mountains are just there as a place holder, we are looking at photographs of Mt. Rainier and will use one of those in the second draft. I like the Tacoma Dome / Capitol Dome idea too, anyone have some stock images we can use as a reference?

The Tacoma Dome. I think you may want to re think that. I can just here the comments. Oh look that Fj is speed bump approved by the Tacoma Dome assocation.
I guess it would depend where it was in the background.
http://www.birfield.com/~morgan/images/print/#1961
You could alway keep it simple and have a picture of the front end of the FJ next to a picture of the orginal land cruiser front end. Then wrap your text around the images.
The link above is of old ads.
Take a look at the 61 with the text to the left. It is a good example of a simple effective image. Choose a solid colored background for a finish product. Or use an old map of washington trails as the background. Maybe you are over thinking this. You could alway tweek the logo in the future.

I thought of the domes as more of a regional identifier. It may make too cluttered an image.
Here are a few I have found. The Tacoma Dome may look better from down town.
