86 FJ60 - East, TX - TX truck - $3200
PRICE DROP
I've come to realize I really don't have time for this rig. I bought it with the intention of building an intake and running it on MegaSquirt. Its become apparent, with all the other projects I have, its just not going to happen. Here are some of the details:
86 FJ60 - Clear Title
I'm told it was purchased at Toyota of Longview (Longview, TX) and has never left. Its body and chassis are indicitive of most TX Land Cruisers I've seen over the years.
It currently has a little over 200K on the clock
Pretty clean interior - has a tear in the driver seat like ALL of them do and some stains here and there. The dash pad is crack in a couple of spots
Exterior is pretty-much rust free. Where it has deep scratches, there is a little rust. Clear coat on the pass side is pealing - again, pretty standard.
Everything mechanically works - 4WD, PS, PB, etc. The A/C still blows at around 40F when it was 90F outside, tranny shifts good, clutch feels good. Alt charges, E-brake works - no problem on TX safety inspection
Only one problem - It burns oil - I'm about 95% sure its just valve stem seals, but I haven't torn it down to find out. I had planned on redoing the whole top-end when doing MS. I've seen much worse oil consumption problems before however.
Either way, I'm not trying to make a killing on this thing, just trying to give you Yankees a chance to start with a really solid truck.
So $3,700 bucks as pictured - $3,000 if I keep the tires for my 4Runner and I put some cheap 235/70R15 on it; The DuraTracs have about 500 miles on them (31X10.50X15 Goodyear Wrangler DuraTracs)
I'm always up for an interesting trade too; even if you think its a highly unlikely trade, try me; you never know.
Truck is located in Longview, TX

So how much oil would you say it burns? Are we talking a huge cloud behind you so you cant see anything out the rear view or mostly just noticable on the dipstick?

Somewhere in between.
You can see a small amount when its warmed up and at idle. When you compression brake the truck, a cloud puffs out which is very clear sign its valve stem seals. It's not hurting engine power at all though. I've owner several FJ60's over the years and the power seems like its spot on.

You sell this rig yet? I've got a 88 FJ62 that I would be willing to trade you plus some cash. If you are interested I'll send pics. The 62 runs great, I use it as my daily driver. Body is a bit rough though. Email is best for me at ashtonremod@gmail.com.
Thanks,
Dave

So far I've had several different trade offers, most of which look attractive; I've not committed to any of them yet, so if you have something you're willing to trade for, let me know.
I also have one potential buyer, but nothing is set in stone.

Nice looking, I've been wanting to do an expo project. I'm in NC-would you take the trip with the oil leak or is it a transfer?
I was also wondering if there is a leak in the back- the carpet looked like it's been wet.
Is the a Chessie pup? I've got an 8mo female snoozing right beside me-great dog.

1. There aren't any oil leaks - just burning oil; I would take the trip to NC anytime, but I love adventure; to boot, vehicle transport is REALLY cheap right now on Uship; theres a lot of guys out of work who will drive 2000 miles just to make 100 bucks.
2. No leaks around any weather stripping or anything; its a stain. It may come out with steam cleaning, not real sure
3. The dog is a 5-month old free mutt of Craigslist - shes supposedly yellow lab, golden retriever, and aussie sheppard.
If you need anymore pics, let me know...

I'm not a mechanic. But how difficult/expensive is the job to fix the oil leak, if it is what you say?
I'm in Denton (north of Dallas). Really, I'm looking for a toyota pickup, but may be interested in a 60. Interested in a partial trade for a motorbike (Honda XR650L)?

Again, let me make very clear: There is no oil LEAK. It is burning oil.
The valve stem seal job should take a decent mechanic 2-3 hours. This may take a new guy 6 hours worst case scenario.
I may be interested in partial trade. Email me pics.

Hey Zulu, 'bout that oil leak...........No, just kidding. I hear the pain in you 'voice'.
Just a reminder about my possible 40 trade, and a bump for ya. Keep me in mind.

Its probably a pretty even trade; I just know I really don't have time for another project. On another note, if your not busy the Friday after thanksgiving were probably gana do a shake down run on the missionary HJ60 at Barnwell.

Good luck on the pending sale. Hope it goes thru. I really kind of wanted yours, but totally understand the lack of time for a project. That's my problem exactly. I probably should have offered you mine and some money. Yours is a lot closer to useable for me. Oh well.
I never heard back from you about the parts for the missionary 60. Assumed you didn't need what I have. Sorry I haven't had any time to contribute. My schedule really has been crazy since before the wedding. Not sure I can partake in the Black Fri trip to Barnwell either. I've got family in town. I passed on a trip up there last wknd too. Missing it. Enjoy.
