DID ALL THE RESEARCH WE COULD - please look at links below for forums who specialize in these SUV's, the comments were great.
Was told from LC forums it is in mint shape and rock bottom price should be no less than $10K,
Was also told that based on info, it is in CHERRY condition.
Was also informed as time goes on it will INCREASE in price - with full restoration it can grab double if not triple the price.
Forum
YotaTech
More info:
Also, from what I understand, my wifes fathers, who willed this to her, and her fathers pastor, also a mechanic, added a special OIL and HEAT gauges toward the bottom of the speedometer. They are really into cars and really tweaked this SUV out to the tilt and the Checy 350 is supposed to be a monster. In the right persons hands, someone that knows restoration, wench (it does have pulleys on both sides), that this car can double in price, if not triple and will increase in time.
We are also looking for a special buyer - someone that will take care of it and when I can, I would like to buy it back as it is a family keep sake.
Hope to find that someone special. ..
Great condition. ..
Some pix here: have seen various prices due to classic status.

Are you talking of the jeep? Hee hee, my wife can't steer the land cruiser - - it doesn't have power steering, it's a real mans car. LOL, plus we would get less money for it (jJeep), anyway.

No way I can afford it but does it pass CA emission test with the V-8 in it?

NO it will not pass smog in cali. It is a nice truck but the v8 kills the Value it had. I hope you can find someone to buy it for 10k but unlikely. it's more like a 7500.00 dollar truck.

If you look at the first pic of the engine compartment, on the fire wall there is a California BAR sticker, so at one point it did pas smog with the V8 and was registered with the V8.

Actually, we have been offered $10K in the past many times and some were excited it had the 350 engine.
With regard to smog, I don't think you have to smog it any more since its a car that is so old. In time it should keep going up in vaule.
So, 'well see.
Not sure what the lowest we would go.
Thanks.

In California, anything 1975 or newer has to pass (unless it's diesel, electric, hybrid, etc.)
Clean looking rig. Good luck with the sale!

Sorry here. It's after 75 and thus a smog truck forever. 350 is a DOWNGRADE in value, though a significant upgrade in performance. Who did the conversion and when was it done??
The truck looks clean, and a decent original truck, but without smog legality it's worth almost nothing in California.

dont get me wrong... It is a great truck..... but 10,000. for a truck without a heater? Land Cruisers are great 4x4's that will last for a very long time, but, with that...the people that would want to buy one know what they are looking at and know the rules. remember that when you sell this Cruiser, You, are responsable to get it to pass smog. good luck.

like mike mentioned, the white sticker on the firewall should be from the state of ca so it should pass smog.........
$10k is lofty if you ask me.
ps: phrases like "hand built 350" make me shy away from anything ...... just sounds like a used-car lot salesman trying to pitch something.

Nice looking truck. My advice would be to put it on ebay. May go higher than here. Check out some of the completed auctions. Mike from here just recently sold his 78 mustard rig for $16,500 on ebay but it was mint and stock.

If you sell it in Calif, and it's registered as a 76 or newer, you are required by law to provide the seller with a smog cert. If I was considering paying 10K, I'd expect you to have the smog cert in hand before I even looked at it.
Your truck might appeal to a collector willing pay a premium for an original survivor. The less original it is, the less it's worth. A Chevy engine takes it down a couple of notches. The quality of the engine rebuild/swap is also a factor. If it was done first-rate then the truck becomes more tempting. Do you have any receipts?

here on mud, too many "purists" that want stock engine. Truth be told, the 350 conversion probably performs better on highways, and makes the FJ more roadworthy, (vs the original off-road beast it was intended to be). The downsides, I hear.. are that you can not be sure how/who did the conversion, and the 350s can run hot. I'd either lower your price expectations, and/or list it on ebay. And, as mentioned, it needs smog in CA. I'm looking, and am waiting for a late year Cali car, that already has passed smog. Just too much of a hassle to worry about installing or fixing later.. 1975 should be smog exempt, for now, but who knows how long that may last under this prez. Best of luck

Okay the engine was done in 91, yes, it passes smog.
The two that did it really climbed mountains, my wife's father was a real mountain man, in fact, I was told by the pastor (the other person that did the rebuild, plus you can find the engines for $700 (original), told me that the gear ratio in the back would have to be changed ($300) in order to go faster as it was designed to be furious and move over anything.
And he would be there at the sale. So just let us know an offer via email or PM.
If interested I mean.
Thanks.

Not sure if I have ever heard of a "furious" gear ratio.
