Built 88 FJ62!

****REDUCED****
4,900.00

For sale or trade! (I cant believe that Im doing this)
1988 FJ62 in Reno, NV.!

Specs:

Stock 3FE with 227K
Stock A440 auto trans
Blue, lined lower line, rear 1/4 chop.
Custom, home brew rear bumper with dual swings
35 in BFG MT's 80% tread with Black steels, 2.5 in BS
SOA with stock springs and long aal's
C and T'd front housing
Custom diff guard
DC rear shaft
Stock front shaft
4:88 gears f/r
Longs up front with aussie locker
Stock rear with lock rite
Cutsom wrap bar
Marlin sliders
Wood bed bin for storage and sleeping

Issues:
Most of the usual rust has been taken care of, cut out and new panels welded in. However, there is the rear channel rust on the frame.
It does have some dents and dings. It was used exclusively as my wheeler, so it has taken some hits on rogue rocks.
The steering wheel is "off" when driving down the road, and it does have a pull to the right. When I did the C and T, I was off a bit when setting the steer arms, and this is a result. Youre not FIGHTING to stay on the road by any means, but she does pull.
I do not have to smog this rig, so Im not sure if she'll pass.
She does have a leak in the muffler. I was planning on a Vortec swap, so I never felt the need to address is. Because of this issue, I suspect that she wont pass smog until that is replaced.

Other info:
Ive owned this rig for almost 4 years and all work (except the drive shaft build and the re gear had been done by me and thouroughly documented here on Mud. There are NO SECRETS about this rig. Search my user name and youll find everything there is to know, and what I have done. Ive put a great deal of pride and care into her and my work on her.
Ive NEVER beat on this rig. I wheel with a very light pedal and its always gotten me home (except the pittman arm break...that wasnt my fault).
Im selling/ trading because I am of the opinion that this rig will never be what I want it to be without complete dismanteling and lots of time and money, or just totally thrashing the body. Im looking to find something smaller and lighter for the type of wheeling that I really like to do.

With all that being said...
Im putting it up for 4,900.00 OBO, or TRADE for a similarly built mini truck, tacoma, 4 runner (preferred) or POSSIBLY FJ40.

Im NOT trying to KILL anyone on a price or re coop all ive put into this. Im a very reasonable individual. All I want to do is be able to start/ complete a different rig better suited for my needs.

Thanks for looking!
If you need anything specific, lemme know and Ill get it for you.

Chicago,
You and I need to talk! I have an 89 FJ62 frame with a FJ45 body on it. It has a 3FE and A440F in it ready to go. I have the axles out from it now for my SOA but that can change quick. It would be a cheap truck to get back on the road as a great offroader for you. Might fit your bill, not sure thiough. I'll pm you my number.

I wish I would ahve found this out before i started my SOA!

Thanks for the kind words gents!
I love the rig and its done amazing things, but its size and weight is constricting me right now on the trails that I enjoy MOST. If I keep it up, she's gonna get thrashed. Some may think that is okay, but.

No one so far seems to have much interest? Im guessing that the price is too high (no surprise)?
Hit me up people. Throw me some options! I am, if nothing else, realisitic.

Randy...Ill give you a call this eve or tomorrow. Thanks for thinking of me.

I don't think the price is high at all man. The market may not be there, but I think it is a steal.

I wish I was close enough to swap 3rds and front axles with you...

Thanks Brett.
Getting NO action, so I might end up having to keep it regrdless and keep building it.
However, I might have to put her on a diet like you did with yours.
Didnt you do Rubithon?

That is retarded to do for this offering. Trying to get your truck for blue book is laughable and those types of people dont deserve the truck. If I could sell my FJ60 and get a decent enough price for it, I would jump on your truck in a heartbeat.

That is what I thought too. I can only assume that they really dont know what it is, and what had been done to get it there.
Id really like this rig to go to a mudder, someone that can access its hx on here, if not someone in my local club.
I appreciate the props and the bump.

I would be interested, but smog could be a problem, as you mentioned. I have my 40 that I want to trade for something similar to this one, but I would need for it to be more of a daily driver, and something to take the family in on weekends.

How does the interior look? Got any pics?

I have some pics of the interior...
Hold on. Lemme find em.
Here are two. Im must have deleted the folder with the shots from my ROTW.
I can get more tomorrow if you like. The lower back seat has been removed. I put a cargo bin for storage and sleeping back there. Nothing too cool, but it works awesome. I still have the seat with all the hardware that I can re install for you.
I can get a pre lim smog here if that would help you. If the only problem is the Muffler, I could probably get that replaced too.
However, I do not DD this rig, so dont know what your criteria for that is.
Like I said...Im reasonable.

Having just gotten back from being forced to run Rubithon with an XJ, I can't believe this hasn't been snapped up already. This would have been a solid runner on the wagon run, and it arguably could not be built for this.

Keith, I think everyone's in shock that you're selling it, and they're looking to make sure you're not faking them out. You're close to CA, but a lot of us have to deal with dyno smog which might freak out a lot of people. Lots of rigs that pass two speed idle with flying colors need $$$ worth of work to pass dyno.

Bump for a 62 that sets the bar a couple notches higher.

Glad to see that youre looking again!
How about it? Ive also got most of the parts together for the Vortec swap including an NP203 gear box for (of course) an additional charge.

Here is what I have for the swap:
(This is additional cost above the cost of the rig, and I will NOT sell/separate ANY of this until the cruiser is sold!)
01' 5.3 L Vortec 49K miles, 99.9% complete with fly wheel and computer
Rebuilt injectors
Intake chemically cleaned
New head gasket replaced because (I HAD to see what the cylinder heads looked like.)
The heads and valves were cleaned thoroughly (I have pics)
02 4L60E trans re build with upgrades and a 700R output shaft installed.
AA 6 to 4 bolt adadpter with VSS and Reluctor ring
700R adapter plate
NP203 gear box

Needs (to get started):
Comp reflash
wiring harness (I was planning on a Howell)
Manifolds
Motor mounts
trans shifter
203 to split case adapter (Colorado Off Road express)

Thanks for the props!
Ill do a little research and see what I come up with as far as the smog for the Blotch rig.

I hate to see you sell this Kieth. I think it can still be what you want, but it will take some very large tires and maybe stronger axles.

Frizzlefry had a very impressive FJ55 that was a big wagon on 42s, Dana 70 rear.60 front. It basically just walked over everything on the Rubicon with no issue at all.

Thanks Andy,
Yeah...I COULD do it, but IMO its just not worth it unless she just doesnt sell.
Not when I can build another more appropriately suited for my needs for much less time and money.

Its a drag, but its a good thing too.

When you mentioned that it pulls a bit, can this be adjusted, by any chance?

Id trade you fiona for blotch (i dented it up some for ya so you wont feel as bad) but i dont think i could ever part with my fiona. she has always been there for me and we have alot of sentimental memories together some good some bad and if i were to even think about selling her my price would be waaaaay higher than what your asking! (cause sentimental value) Ill sleep in my fiona before i sell her!

i vote keep it!

If i had the cash id buy it now and drive it nearly daily.

I hope it goes to someone who can respect the wagon and treat her well.

Yeup!
However, it would require a new c and t'd housing to be swapped in.
Proffits would be the EASIEST solution. He'll sell you a housing in exchange for the core and IIRC it wasnt that bad.
Luke at 4x4 labs will do em too.
Then all you have to do is x fer the components. The only things that YOU would have to weld in are the lower shock tabs and possibly the bump stops.
BTW, the front end was just re built...AGAIN...last summer with the Marlin HD's when I installed the locker and longs.
To me, its not that bad and has never been worth the time to re do, but...that is me.
