1989 FJ62 Built - Oregon

(with permission, much of the following is re-printed from the prior owner)

REDUCED PRICE $7,999

Here is the bio
1989 FJ62 (champaign tan)

4th Owner with ALL receipts and records (think 4+ inches)
236k miles, all engine/transmission was done 8k ago for no real good reason other than having something to throw money at.
SF Bay California Car – brought to Oregon two years ago.
Body is straight, no dents, never been in major accident. The rear lift gate was dented so a good new ones was painted to match (inside and out – removed all HW).

Engine
Long Block rebuilt by Clark’s machine shop (Cupertino, CA)
NEW
ALL hoses
ALL hose clamps w/ new Toyota Hose clamps
Belts

Radiator
Water Pump and Fan Clutch
EGR Valve
EGR Vacuum Modulator
Motor Mounts (Toyota)
Oil Pan
ALL Gaskets (replacement Toyota)

SS Battery tray clamp for Optima Series 31 battery
PS Pump
AC dryer
FlowMaster 60 Series Muffler
Rebuilt/Reconditioned
All injectors cleaned and balanced by RC engineering
TPS from Cruiser Parts
EGR Gas Temp
ECU from another cruiser
VSV from another cruiser

Transmission
Rebuilt A440F and Torque Converter
New Rodney (Automatic Transmission) Valve Body
New Rodney AT Temp Gauge setup
New Transmission Cooler (Plate style)

Transfer Case
TC rebuild done with ALL NEW bearings from Toyota
Replaced the PTO gear setup with the one from Australia

Suspension/Steering/Wheels
NEW

TSM Rear Brake Conversion – Eldo style with e-brake
SS Brake Lines
Good E-Brake Setup with all new cables
T-100 Soft lines from body to axel

Body
ARB Front Winch Bumper
Warn Fairlead (no idea why the owner put this on without a winch)
ARB Side steps
Kaymar Rear Bumper (w/ Swing Arms mounts but no swing arm)
Tail Light Guards
Fender Flairs (Australian/Man-A-Fre) Style
Safari Snorkel – not installed

Interior
JVC receiver (MP3 plus exterior mini-jack plug)
Front & Rear Speakers (Pioneer)
Rear diamond tread rubber mat
Weather Tech front mats
Nifty mounted fire extinguisher and MagLight
Dash has a small crack right above stereo.

Other
More spare parts than you know what to do with (all in a RubberMaid Action Packer)
A well used 1989 FSM (the good one)
A Chiltons manual good for starting a camp fire
A COMPLETE printout, sorted in a binder and in protective sleeves, of the parts microfiche

What is Wrong
Blows code 71. I think I have replaced “everything possible” – still think it is the VSV, but haven’t bought a new one. Every time I go through the FSM procedure I get stumped.
Alignment is good, but the steering wheel is a bit “off” due to steering box replacement
Gas mileage – I am getting about 16 mph on the highway, but it is hard to pin it down exactly without a GPS due to the larger tires.
There was a small (and I mean small – size of eraser head) rust spot in the passenger side rear window. I had a pro body shop remove all traces and touch up.
AC – I have a new drier, but there isn’t ANY Freon in the system. You will need to get it recharged.
Paint – Clear coat is fading on the rear driver side. Some scratches in the roof.

What it Needs
Long Rang Gas Tank
Rear tire carrier
WINCH
Lights on the ARB bull bar
Roof Rack
CB

I love this truck, but my day job is now requiring more traveling to Southern Oregon (about a 500 mile roundtrip) and I need a commuter. I have never wheeled it, nor had the prior owner.

Truck is in Salem, Oregon - I can get away to show it anytime.

Shoot me an email and I will get right back to you with my phone number.

Thanks,
Mike

The interior is in really good condition, except the seats are dirty and need to be cleaned. My kids got dirty shoes on the seats during a camping trip this summer. I will probably drop it off for a detail job after new years.

Carpet is good all around. The back has diamond plate rubber in excellent condition.

Thanks,
Mike

Really don't understand about not selling cosmetic wheeling parts

But if you don't have the stock parts then I understand. But if you do still have the stock parts it would be better to get that wrench, get some money for pieces that average joe kicking the tires might not want like an ugly as sin bumper with bars all over it. I ain't no rock crawler and I got money. Don't shut out average joe. You need to get your rig as close to stock "looking" as possible. Plus who wouldn't want to get some money flowing in first. It may seem "easier" to you but it is annoying and a pain to potential buyers. Bumpers are so easy too.

Rear bumper, fender guards & sliders are the opposite of cosmetic: they increase the functionality of the vehicle when wheeling, by protecting the areas where they are mounted, and offering mounting points for additional gear or recovery points.

If you want a stock rig, there are many for sale. This is a fair price for a very nice built rig, esp w/16mpg...

Thanks for the input. Between my CPA practice (I work 60 hours a week), the three small restaurants I own (about 30 hours a week) - - and two small girls at home (every remaining minute of the week), I honestly don't have any time to do any parts additions/subtractions.

Plus, I have zero, I mean less than zero wrenching skills - so I am just going to have to sell it as-is.

Thanks for the input though.

Cheers,
Mike

I should also add - Cash offers seriously considered. I have a couple interested folks from my local craigslist posting, but the sooner I can sell the better.

It is a great truck with lots of rebuilt parts (see above).

Thanks,
Mike

One last time here with the reduced price - $7999. Pretty firm at this price, but cash offers welcome.

An almost complete rebuild on a rust free truck.

Thanks,
Mike
