1971 Supercharged Toyota V8 FJ55
Well it is official. I am putting my 2+ year project up for sale....
I love this 55, but I would like to see it go to a home that will be able to use it. First some history: I started looking for a 55 about 5 years ago; in 2004 I found a nice early model that was virtually rust free. The only rust was in the front fenders. I bought it completely stock and drove it with the "F" engine for 6 months. Then the bug hit me, I wanted to make it a little more capable. So I started researching, I spent hours on Mud and Pirate and formulated my plan. I loved the V8 in my 100 series, so it was a must. The transmission was chosen, because it was the latest model year that would work with the stand alone TCU. I picked the fulltime transfercase from an 80 series and front and rear 80 series factory e-locked axles that were rebuilt and re-geared to 4.88. From there it was just how to make everything fit and work. I engineered the front 3 link, and built everything with top of the line components (heat treated 4130 links, Johnny joints, 2.5" Fox shocks, 2" Fox Nitrogen bumpstops) The body was stripped down and the floors were all rust bulleted. My wife and I painted the truck with single stage enamel auto paint in spray cans (This was done, so that it could be touched up after it was scratched) The interior, wheel wells, and lower part of the exterior was line-x'd. There is so much to list with this truck, but I have lots of photos of the progression. So on to the bad, the truck is not finished. It is probably 90% complete. I have all of the parts to finish, but I just don't have the motivation to continue. So on to the photos: These are not the most recent photos. I will go down to the shop Tuesday and get photos as it sits today. ![]() Videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gl7SAhKZLr4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRN34QUIyh0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHHWGvApYSc Please go through all the photos on my site: http://homepage.mac.com/ryanandjessaka/PhotoAlbum1.html The truck is in Fredericksburg, VA and I am asking $19,000. If you have any questions just let me know. Ryan. __________________ The Neverending FJ55 Project http://homepage.mac.com/ryanandjessaka/PhotoAlbum1.html Stock 1971 FJ55 |

You say it's 90% complete. What's left to finish the remaining 10%?

Sorry,
I am not really looking for any trades. My plans have changed, and I am not going to have the time or place to use a Land Cruiser as it should be used. I am going down to the shop on Tuesday to get the most recent photos, and I will create a punch list of what needs to be done. Dan,
There is an A/C unit. The condensor is installed, and there is an A/C compressor on the motor. The lines would need to be run and the system charged. The unit is a Vintage Air unit. That's the ticket. Trade for the 100, sell the 100, get your $$. Much easier to sell a 100 than a custom vehicle like the piggy...you two need to get his done.

The location in the second shot looks familiar. Is that near the Blue and Gray brewery in Fredericksburg?

Amazing how I can smell a brewery from across the country.
I usually stay in Fredericksburg when I visit Dahlgren for work, and I made sure to visit Blue and Gray a couple of trips ago. Comes from being a homebrewer. To get back on topic, that's a sweet FJ55. Unfortunately, I need to consolidate vehciles/projects, not take on another one. No doubt someone will be very happy with this rig. Herb |

Sorry for the delay in photos. I have added several new photos from my visit on Thursday. As for the list of things to do. I still have a couple of things that I would like the shop to button up. After I have negotiated with the shop and everything I feel should be done is done I will let you know what is left.
12 New Photos on my homepage: http://homepage.mac.com/ryanandjessaka/PhotoAlbum1.html Thanks again everyone, Ryan. __________________ The Neverending FJ55 Project http://homepage.mac.com/ryanandjessaka/PhotoAlbum1.html Stock 1971 FJ55 |
