Anyone know these BJ70s in the Calgary area?

Came across these in the Auto Trader, just thought I'd see if anyone knows these, or even what a reasonable price for these would be?

thanks Junk for the reference...

the first one will be a BJ70 unless someone brought in one from another country, the BJ71 was not sold here and if it doesn't have aturbo then it is definately a BJ70.
that area code is not a Calgary one it is a Quebec code. there is a guy bringing these in from Europe living down east.

if you are seriously interested in one of these contact the guy to bring it by and i will do a inspection of them if you wish.
<i do not "scoop" vehicles from other cruiserheads>

cheers

I contacted the guy selling the $14,000 one (via email). Apparently this one is from Holland, where his family is from. He says he's brought back a couple others. Is this price reasonable?

You can check out this web site to compare prices. The shipping to a Canadian port is around $1700 and you need to add GST, duties, inspections and any ground transport that is needed, at both ends.

Rust is not as bad in Europe as here and many areas offer near rust free trucks. Any truck that has had a recent emissions test can be assumed to have a good running engine.

Compare the cost of this import to Canadian trucks for sale in BC. I don't think this is a good truck if you want to flip it.

The 70 series is something I've always thought was awesome, but until recently it's been more of an illusive/unattainable vehicle than anything (especially since I'd like a LHD version). Great link, is there any other sites I should also be checking out?

crushers, do you deal with any of this LHD stuff in Europe?

Earl, i have found the prices and the quality of trucks from Europe to be less than desirable esp with the amount of km most of the units have...

In saying that, a guy on the east coast was one of the first importing cruisers from Germany, he brought in a beautiful rust free 1984 BJ42 that now resides in Victoria.

The truck should of sold closer to 26K but only sold for 14K if memeory serves me.

I'd like something that was rust free (or almost... I don't mind rust in front fenders, as they're easily replaced, or small holes as they're easily fixed). I definitely don't want something that's got major cancer. I don't mind minor dings and dents, especially if it's on parts like fenders, doors, or hoods as they can be replaced if necessary. Good drivetrain would be most important to me, but the body should still look good and have the original paint. I like to stay away from vehicles that have had recent paint jobs!

I enjoy working on vehicles, so I don't want something that's perfect otherwise I'd have nothing to do, or I wouldn't want to take it out exploring in the mountains!

Crushers, if you find that perfect project for me... let me know Ideally, the cheaper the better to. The most I've ever spent on a vehicle was $5000, and that was my '87 4Runner.
