Need a better Toyota Dealer

Well, I'm about at my rock bottom frustration with the Toyota dealer I have been dealing with for 2.5 years. Their quality and level of service has fallen like a rock. I think they are full of themselves now. So, I'm looking for a better dealer who has work on 80s and 4Runners and has a good cutomer service. How's Jack Taylor's Toyota? Or any other dealers in Fairfax, Alexandria area. Sorry if I'm sounding like a venting jerk...

I've never actually gotten any work done at Taylor Toyota. Their parts dept has been okay, but I get a better deal from CDan.

Try pm-ing Tony (apcoleman). I think his dad owns a few dealerships in the Springfield area.

Ofcourse for parts I call CDan too, I go to the dealer mostly for pesky diagnostics issues. Especially when either I don't have the time and or the tool. I will send him a pm.

Thanks Felix..

Have you tried Fitzgerald for service? Or is that the problem one? They did good by me on my mini in the winter, when I couldn't work on it for the freezing cold. For local parts, I've been going to Darcars Toyota, 12210 Cherry Hill Rd., Silver Spring, MD. 301/622-2121. near White Oak. Kinda on my way home.

Mark Braund is the Parts Mgr and is a good guy and goes the extra step to help. Dale, John, and I all use him and he gives us the 25%. He's even ups'd stuff to me at home.

Thanks for the info Dan. It seems to me that parts managers are OK to better quality when it comes to delivering service and or parts. However, the actual service advisors or crew or whatever you might wanna call'em are the problems. The problem dealer is the one in Rockville. My problem is in service: fixing the truck if there's any thing wrong. Last year I went to this dealer for a regular tune up for my 80, you know, change spark plugs, cables, rotors, fuel filter etc. You know how much they asked for this? $700.00. I got pissed, had to find the time to do it myself. Then I found out that the service advisor was looking into a "wrong screen" in the computer when he was giving me that estimate. Same scenario when I wanted to replace the PHH. I got a quote of $900.00, why? Becauese they have to raise the engine to change the hose and it would take'em all day. Again, I ended up doing it myself by removing the skirt near the wheel. Then come the wife's 4Runner. After service when we went to pick it up, the PS bumper and fog light was seriously damaged. They replaced the whole bumber, took'em 2 weeks. Then they did a brake service for her truck didn't bleed the brake, so when she pressed and floored on the padel, the truck was still moving and almost ran into the vehicle up front. And now? I just want my drive belts replaced, those fawkers put in some after market drive belts because they don't have any toyota belts . I had a feeling they would fawk up, that's why I was calling every 30 mins. Finally got a hold of the real guy and now they are putting on OEM belts. I mean Jiffy Lube can do better than this. Anyway, again, I am sorry for venting but hey, I've got no where else to go if I don't find any help here

No worries, you'll be doing your own service soon enough.

Fitzgerald has good rep with me. They opened a new service center about 1/2 mile or so north of Price Club on right side of Rt 355 going north.

Can't believe a dealer would even install aftermarket crap.

Riad,

Come by and see me! Head of service here in fairfax has a 60 and 100, he is really one of the smartest guys i know and if you want a good service writer, request Bill Thompson.
BTW, this is Fairfax Toyota at 29 and 123

Thanks Brandon! Which Fairfax Toyota are you talking about (name)? That would be really great to have a good dealer in Fairfax.

I just went into the FFX toyota a couple of days ago. The parts guy always gives me 20% off and seems pretty cool. My gfriend just brought her 4runner in there for a recall (free steering shaft replacement on '95s if anyone has one) and things went smoothly except for a little grease on the driver's door. My old roommate bought his tacoma up there and would recieve coupons for full tune-ups for $400 (LCs included - I checked but this was 2 years ago) and some pretty good coupons for service.

Now if I wouldn't get approached by a bunch of sales guys hiding in the trees it would be even better. Someone should tell them that smoking a cig when you approach your customer isn't all that smooth either!

Anyway, I like the FFX dealer.

Glad to hear everything went alright with the part and service at FFX. The parts guys do seem pretty cool to me.

The salemen are all tards in my oppinion, whats new.

Good news though, sales is moving within a week or two down to Browns Buick, they actually have delivered a few truck loads of cars there and the buick guys are all out so its really happening.

The existing fairfax dealership will be entirely parts and service now, which is awesome. No salesmen and alot more parking.

As i said earlier, the head of parts and service is a cruiser guy himself, has a 100 and a 60.....perhaps i could convince him to let us hold some events there in the future if its needed, the back lot is pretty spacious. just a thought
