RSVP for Rausch Creek HERE!!!! Everyone read
Its wheeling time! As discussed in last night's meeting. Everyone please post up if they will be heading out Fri. evening to camp or leaving sat. morning. Once we figure out if we will all be going up at the same time or going at 2 separate times, we can determine an ideal place to meet and caravan up.
Everyone must purchase a $10 one year membership. Then it is $25 per day per vehicle. Additional passengers will be charged $5 per day. We are on the calandar on Raush Creek's website for the weekend and may camp on Fri. and Sat. night. It looks like there will be 2 other groups camping for the weekend as well. Here is the link for the rules and regulations. You can also get other park info from it as well. http://www.rauschcreekoffroadpark.org/rules.asp Check you full size spares to make sure they hold air (especially guys like me with it under the truck) You also are required to have a towing point on the front as well. Should be good times!!!!!!!!! I will schedule a Happy Hour prior to the trip so we can hash out any last minute details. I'm thinking Gordon Biersh in the new addition to the Tysons Mall. There's lots of parking on the top of the parking garage so we can line our trucks up and feel "groupish" plus we can make sure everyone is properly set up if need be. So who's game for Fri. night and who down with early sat (we need to sign in by 10am)? __________________ 1986 fj60 - dents, rust and lots of character ![]() President - Capital Land Cruiser Club Before you lapse or surrender your life insurance, explore your options for a life settlement. I am flexible. I can leave friday or sat early. I will camp at least Sat night... Unless it pours (i might think twice :(
Does anyone no the forcast for next weekend? we can review before the happy hour. Wed might be good night for happy hour. As is suggested, we might do communal cooking to make things easier, and reduce amount of equip we haul up. if you are camping, let us know if apposed to this... I suggest my famous whole roasted garlic stuffed with garlic, bread, tomatoes and a bit of hot pepper. I can figure out what we need once we have count, and either shop ahead, (thursday night), or on way up. Sebastien. |

Quote:
I just checked the calender and I won't be able to leave the office until around 5 on Friday unless I am able to change an appointment which I will try. I am not certain my traction bar will be finished in time so I may be a passenger anyway. If it looks like no one wants to chance camping due to weather conditions or time constraints or whatever, then the Saturday leave early thing makes the most sense. __________________ 79 FJ40 & 78 FJ55 |

Question about alcohol:
Andrew, you mentioned at the meeting that you thought they didn't allow any alcohol at all into the park, but the rules website you linked to says "no drinking and driving." Does that mean we can bring beers to enjoy at the campsite as long as we're done driving? Felix |

At this point, the forecast is for a few showers and mid-50s, but that could change.

YEAH!!!
Man I'm ready. Got my Slee lower control arms installed last night. I bent the DS one at Devil's Ditch . But I would hate the weather though. I hate rain while wheeling . I hope it gets better buy next week.

I am planning to camp sat as well (unless something of hi urgency pops up!) I will find out about the booze issue.
I don't know if anyone here uses the www.cruizers.com site but I posted an invite for the swap meet there. I haven't used that forum for about 1-2 years since I discovered mud. __________________ 1986 fj60 - dents, rust and lots of character ![]() President - Capital Land Cruiser Club Before you lapse or surrender your life insurance, explore your options for a life settlement. Okay,
I can call Lynn if we are not going to make it by 10am but that is what we should shoot for... Also, we can drink provided we are both camping and finished wheeling for the day. __________________ 1986 fj60 - dents, rust and lots of character ![]() President - Capital Land Cruiser Club Before you lapse or surrender your life insurance, explore your options for a life settlement. It's just a long damn way to go for a day trip. I'd rather get there Friday, even if it's late, than leave at the crack of dawn on Saturday. I'm planning to meet up with some of the PA crew Friday night and camp if it's not too cold.

Sorry Felix, but I've got he two trips confused. I'll most likely go to RC since it's a little closer.

Have I got you really confused now? I'm looking to camp and wheel if it's not too cold. If there's a group from CLCC camping at RC, that sounds good to me. If not, I'll camp with the PA boys at Paragon. Sorry for the confusion.

Bob, clcc guys will definitely be camping at RC on Saturday night. And I don't think it'll be too cold. It's supposed to be almost 70 on Sat.
Tommy, I'm sorry to hear you can't make it. It looks like there will be plenty more wheeling opportunities coming up, though.

i THINK it would be best leaving friday night, around 7ish to avoid rush hour. It would allow us to arrive, set up camp (in the dark... not ideal) but then let us free to go wheeling the following morning. (friday departure provided it is not pouring friday night of course).
Thing to consider is if we leave Sat morning, we need to really set up camp before going wheeling. It seems less than ideal to wheel with full trucks. Setting up camp would take another 1 to 1.5 hrs. |

I'm still not sure about Friday night for me. For those of you that are going up Friday, what time do you want the Saturday arrivals to get there so that we can meet up with you and hit the trails?

Riad, I'll be leaving home Sat morn about 6-610A. That'll put me at the second exit at Thurmont on 15N about 7-710A. If you want to hook up, you can be waiting there, it's about milepost 29. I'll be on Channel 4. I figure you're north of me, it'll be easier if you wait on me. Or you could be rolling by there about that time. Your choice. I know that 80 of yours moves a lot faster than my 40, so if I roll by and you miss me, you'd have no trouble catching up. I guess I'm saying that I'm not planning on stopping.
My cell is 240/483-2528. This should get us at the park at 9-915A. The only other tricky part is getting from 15N onto 83N (before 81N). I believe it's Rt 581E. That's the bugger that's easy to miss. You just have to keep in the right lane ater passing exit for PA turnpike while on 15N and keep an eye peeled for "to 83N". More specific directions off of 81N: Exit 104 for Ravine (Exxon, Raceway Restaurant). They are on the right after you come off the ramp. To get to the park you would go left off the ramp, follow Molleystown Road west for about 5 minutes. At the fork in the road for Lincoln, bear right for Joliett. When you get near the top of the road, our entrance is just past the intersection with Lincoln Road on the Left. __________________ '77 FJ40: HFS, 33's, Locked and Low'd

That would be great! Yeah I know that 581E exit, I have missed it couple times going to RC and Paragon. That exit will just pop up in your face and be gone just like that! I will keep on Channel 4 and my cell number is 301-928-2803. I will head out around 6-ish also.

Dan and Riad, are you guys opposed to leaving earlier on Sat morning? I'm just thinking that if the guys camping on Friday night want to hit the trails earlier than 9:30, it would be cool to arrive at around 8:00.
I've never been to RC, so I don't know how hard it is to catch up with a group that's got a 90 minute head start. Maybe it's no big deal. I'd just feel bad if the early birds had to wait around too long for us to arrive. |
