Differential Shop in the DC Area

Howdy folks,
Can anyone recommend a good shop to set up a couple of differentials in the DC area?
Thanks.

I took my truck to Driveline Specialists off of Terminal road by the Fairfax County Parkway in Springfield by Ft Belvior. They're good guys, they do that work every day so they're proficient and fast. They have a website too. If you up for a little bit more of a drive down to Fredricksburg call up Lance at Iron Pig.

Is it just an auto locker like a Lock Rite or Aussie? Do you already have the locker? If so, that's a job for your driveway.

Maybe someone from the club could lend you a hand.

If it's just an ez locker type I'll help you with it. They can be a PITA but totally do able in a few hours. A carrier replacement will take a pro. Only way to find out how much is to call and ask.

Curran -

We charge 4 hours per diff to setup gears, add an hour if the diff is getting a locker too. For us to remove and reinstall both diffs in the vehicle add 6.5 hours. This typically comes in at around $950 + parts on a turnkey job to do both diffs. (shop rate is $65/hr)

To just install a lunchbox locker you're looking at about 5 hours for the front and ~1.5 for the rear. Detroits, Auburns and ARB's run a little more due to the need to replace the carrier.

Before anyone thinks this is a lot of money, remember the labor that goes into this job. It's also important to note that you're having a professional shop that backs up their work do the install - this is not something you want to make a mistake on or you're buying new gears and setup kits in addition to doing the job over. (unless, of course, you pay a professional to do it in which case they take care of it) Lunchbox lockers are a different case entirely. They are easy DIY jobs and I would encourage anyone who enjoys turning a wrench now and again to give it a shot.

HTH,

Lance

Lance and his guys did a great job on my gears. BTW the driveline place here in Springfield is staffed by a bunch of duschbags... I wouldn't use them again.
