Portable cherry picker??

Anyone have a portable cherry picker I can borrow this week? I think I might drive down to Raleigh and pick up a 1FZ for FREE. But once I get it back here I need to be able to get it out of the truck and on a stand.

Thanks,
Patrick

I don't have a cherry picker but I'm decently strong. If no-one comes through, maybe we can get creative with a hydraulic jack and some old fashioned manhandling.

I've done it before, what's the big deal? IIRC, that engine is in the neighborhood of 500-550 lbs and with two guys, a hydraulic jack, common sense, some 2x4's/random boards, and knowing how leverage works, it wasn't terribly hard by any means. Throw in a third guy to help balance and while you won't be tossing it around the garage, you can definitely get it bolted up to an engine stand.

If the OP is of the mind that 2-3 guys can't get it done, a come-a-long hooked to a suitable overhead rafter can also be used to lift it up and get it bolted to an engine stand.

DISCLAIMER: It helps if both guys are of average/above average strength and not examples of the Charles Atlas "before" pictures.

Well I'm down for giving it shot if no one pipes up with an engine hoist.

BTW, anyone know what size bolts I need for connecting the block to the engine stand?

Anyone want a free '94 1fz long block? I think I'm going to pass on it. It's in Raleigh so you'd need to drive down there and pick it up but it's only ~3 hour drive from N. VA. I don't know the condition but I assume it was taken out for a reason. Let me know and I'll give you the name of the guy and the shop where it's at.

Patrick,

Just saw your post. If you change your mind and go get it I've got an engine hoist you can use.
