I Love My 80
Thought I'd share the good news.....
First of all... Andrew is THE MAN.
He gave me a line on an 80 for sale up in Baltimore for a really good price. A shop quoted the owner about $2,500 to fix a coolant leak and a massive oil leak, and he just wanted to be rid of it.
Well, after towing back to my place (thanks, Dan!) and a few small investments like heater hose, some clamps, coolant, etc, the truck is on the road!
Turns out that there was no oil leak. It just has a bad oil pressure gauge. I fixed the coolant leak, cleaned it up a bit, and now it's good to go. In the week or two that I've had it, I've already hauled more crap around town than I could have with dozens of trips with the 40.
Anyway, not too many details to list on the rig... it's a '95, white, w/ lockers. I haven't taken any pics, yet, but below are some the seller had.
Thanks, again, Andrew and Dan for helping me out.

Congrats Felix. Now you don't have to borrow your neighbor's suv!
Just don't tell the PO about your easy fixes or he'll feel bad.
It's good to be able to fix problems.

95? white? lockers?
I was about to run out to my driveway to see if my 80 was still there but then I noticed the wood trim, looks like we have twins.
Congratulations!

Nice score! That is a very clean looking 80... You should bring it up to Rausch Creek this weekend to test out the lockers.

Nice score Felix. Now the question - are you going to wheel it? Really?

The plan for now is not to wheel it. We're thinking about having kids in the next couple years, and this is going to be the family car/grocery getter. But, I'm still gonna try to get a little armor up front, maybe a mild lift and some ATs. That will be a slow process, though.
And don't be fooled; it's not as clean as it looks. There some considerable rust.... a few little spots on the body but a lot on the metal hardware inside. It's a hurricane Wilma truck. PO said it sat in water only up to the hubs, but I'm certain there was water in the cabin. At least up to the rear cargo floor.

Sweet, of course 96 is the best year!
I have done considerable work on my 80 and have a huge list of part numbers for upgrades and PM. Let me know if there is anything you have planned.
Congratulations, great to have another 80 in the club.

Future cruiserheadettes.
Felix-
Future kid-o planning is good disguise for the newly acquired 80. Here is pic from this past weekend at Greenridge SF. This posed picture was taken just after checking out the overview off Mertens Rd. The oldest was riding shotgun calling out the mud holes, while the youngest was in her car seat and kept asking for more snacks- good times ahead!!!

Definitely a good deal. Before you buy your AT's hit me up and you can ride in mine with 255 MT's around the block. I think the KM2's are great on the road. I took my on a 400 mile trek to SC on them and she never once mentioned tire noise. That's the nice thing about 80's over 40's...sound deadening . No chance you don't wheel it though. Welcome to the .:cough:. best land cruiser in the series club.
