Intro From Burke/Fairfax VA

Hello everyone

Take a look.
This is my '78

This rig has been in the family since about '81. Up until last fall it was mostly an Oregon Cruiser...and was parked outside in Oregon rain! Dad lost interest in it and bought two RangeRovers instead, since traded in for a HondaRidgeline after he got pissed off from constantly fixing them(they break more than Jeeps and cost 5times as much per part). It sat parked for 5yr w/ an occasional fire-up. Can you believe that I only paid $1 for my TLC...then $2k to get her running right...then $1400 to ship it out here Lucky me that Dad was a trained mechanic!

As far as I know, it is fairly stock except the wheels and paint.

I believe that all the Ca smog equip. has been removed...

The hardtop will most def come off this summer and in the fall perhaps this http://forum.ih8mud.com/merchandise-...-made-usa.html

Ive seen quite a few rigs in the area. I believe to see emorth's rig all the time at the local Safeway and at the Mobil(when it was still there). From my window at work i see a few 40's rolling along 28, prob comming from the Toyota dealership. Btw, when i was broken down a few months ago on rt123 a man that called himself "the Polack" gave me someone's number that i lost, but i thought i'd say thanks anyway.

I'd say that I got the Cruiser obsession a few years back. Is it bad that I aleady have planned mods for a second cruiser i have yet to own?

Hope to see everyone around

Sam

Thanks H2o. I'll try to make the meeting next month, but i'll prob be a bit late as i'm coming from Manassas just off from work. I'll see what i can do to make the Electrical Tech Day next weekend. As i was not at the last meeting, can you please provide some numbers for the TBD? Forgive me if I missed something.
Thanks

Sweet looking rig. Welcome to MUD. I think my son's waiting to see if I get bored with mine so he can get the same sweet deal you got.

Thanks everyone. Yea, this cruiser has had my name on it since i was 6 years old riding shotgun. 16yr later, it's mine!
So i just signed up and sent out the necessary dues to join TLCA and CLCC. I wonder how long it will take to process...

That sure is a purdy 40. I'd be interested to see that top installed.

Welcome! It looks to me like you have all the emissions gear intact there. That is a very nice original 40 with a great story behind it.

good to know about the emissions stuff. I think it's missing a Ca specific part though, b/c i know i couldn't cross the Oregon/California border in it w/o getting stopped and issued a ticket.
I'd love to get that top when i've got some monies to throw at it, but for the meantime i'm considering getting some 17oz OD military canvas and A-Team me up something! But all that comes after I beef up some security on it.
