Not that I'll be able to participate, but how does Crozet's low blacks compare to Rausch's low blacks?

Slow, very slow, thanks. Not sure when I'll be ready for a trip though. Hopefully this summer. I only recently started back in the Taco - but that's got an easy clutch.

I am pretty sure that a couple of friends and I will be going to this trail ride. Anyone else?

Jakes40, do you know if we just show up or do we contact someone prior?

As soon as Jake posted this trail ride I knew I had to go. I have been wanting to check the trails out at Crozet for a while. I had also never been to Charlottesville so that was just a bonus.

I forwarded the info to a couple of friends and we planned to head down there for the day early Sat. morning. The drive down was uneventful besides my friend in the 4runner getting pulled over for tinted windows that were too dark.

In our group we had my 80, my friend's maroon '92 80, my friend's 4runner, and his mechanic's Rubicon.

We got to Crozet, signed up and lined up in the easiest group. We figured if we wanted to step it up, we could join the next group up at lunch. We were having a blast with our trail guides Keith and Chris, and felt that the trails we were on were challenging enough. They sure as hell didn't look like mid blues to me.

Signing up, lining up, and getting going was very efficient thanks to the club members that were very well prepared.

In the afternoon my friend's mechanic put a huge rock right into his oil pan. It smashed it in pretty good but didn't puncture it. We hi lifted his rig by the wheels with a hi lift mate and put huge rocks under his wheels. Then we ran a strap around the rock and tugged it out. He still had oil pressure so we kept going.

After the day was done we wanted burgers, beers, and to check out the coeds in Charlottesville. We aired up at the local gas station and headed over to a bar that was having a $5 special. Everything on the menu was $5 or less. I stuffed my face with a Frisco burger, fries and coleslaw. Sierra Nevada to wash it all down and I was in heaven.

Time for pics

Looks pretty challenging for the easiest trail. Glad you had fun. Now you can be our guide for the next trip.
