Okay guys and gals, I'm proposing Saturday, June 7th, as the official day to wheel Second Mountain (or thereabouts). Personally, I'm only planning right now to do a day trip. Others can camp out as they wish. Please let me know who's interested so that we can proceed if we get critical mass. If we get enough folks to make it worthwhile, I'm going to need to tap your experience as far as staging and other logistics. I've never organized one of these before, so I'm making good guesses at this point. There will be stock runs as some of us aren't quite "hacked and jacked" yet (to borrow from an infamous thread).

- Dave

Jamie,

I hate to tell you this but GWNF is a forest, not a shopping mall. Your new ride might like it but I'm not sure you could cope.

Why not bring the new beast out for a mild test drive?

actually I might.

gotta get my rear DS back on first though.

had to ship it out to CO to be rebuilt. turns out the DC joint had run dry, that was the clicking. couldn't find a local drive line shop that knew what the hell I was talking about so said screw it and shipped it to Christo. might cost a little more but at least I know it will be done right.

gonna try and get up to see you in the near future. sides that wanna see the 45.

Next time try MRM in Culpeper. He had the parts in stock to rebuild a DS for a Mercedes limo; can't be too many of those in Culpeper!

I think I might be in. I finally got some decent tires (thanks, Charlton), so I need to get the 40 back in action.

Super Swamper TSL Radials, 32x10.50s on 15" steel rims, Charlton's old set. I originally wanted the the 33x10.50s, but I got a great deal on these. My old tires were also 32s, technically, but these are significantly taller. And going to a 10.50 from an 11.50 has made turning much easier without PS. Plus, it looks cooler .

I desperately want those same tires, except 33s. I'm having trouble convincing the I need new tires when my current ones are fairly new. Can somebody help me shred one on the trail?

What tires are on their now? If they're new-ish, can you sell them to offset the cost of the TSLs?

BFG A/Ts. 30x9.5x15. They're in great condition. I just don't know what somebody would be willing to pay.

Pics, damn your eyes, Felix. Let's see the new look.

Whenever you're ready, we can do your mini-truck power steering upgrade.

I'll get some pics. I'm serious about the ease of steering, though. With these 10.50s, I wonder whether I need PS after all.

Of course, I haven't wheeled them, yet. Ask me again while I'm trying to turn from left to right with my rt front tire pinned against a big rock, all while backing up a steep incline.

If I didn't have to park it in that damn garage under the Time Life building, it would be much taller by now.
