Wiring Harness

Has anyone here replaced their FJ40 harness with any of the available replacement harnesses, such as Painless, etc? My stock harness is a mess, and I'd like to know others' thoughts or experiences with the replacements.

Thanks.

What year is your 40? My understanding is that Painless is a PITA to install in a 40.

I used the EZwire one. Great product, really easy to do as long as you take your time. Get the 21 circuit harness. It is worth it. Solder all of the connections!!!!!

I actually am getting ready to add on to this harness with a winch and an electric fan.

AND WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING YOU DO WITH THE WIRE HARNESS!

I'd check out Ron Francis. I think the web site is www.ronfrancis.com. Seems like real good stuff. No experience with it yet but that would be my preference.

Cheers,
Cahil

RE: Wiring Harness

I've got a 79 FJ40, which I'm in the midst of taking down to the frame. I figure that if I'm going to do this right, I will need to get rid of the electronic mess that I currently have.

Any/all suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!

Whatever you do, don't ask Bob's PO for wiring advice. Every single wire in his harness under the dash is blue.

I've heard that Centek harnesses have been used less painfully than Painless.

What's wrong Dan, I thought blue was your favorite color?
