Mother and baby are doing well. Riley is happy to finally have someone to boss around.

Dawn’s water broke last Tuesday morning while she was grading report cards in the back of her classroom. Her principal took her to the hospital while I picked up Riley and met her there. 10 hours later, Gavin was born. After the 'all clear' was given by the nurses, he was handed to me all swaddled up and content. He opened his eyes and stared at me for a whole half hour without making a sound. I was in heaven.

I secretly was hoping to share my birthday with my son (the 10th) but now that he is here, I can’t even see myself waiting another day….
