I am thinking that 4 sheets of diamond plate are in order and you will have a trailer you wont have to mess with besides paint

Stay with the wood. Just be sure to treat them before you put them back on.....that diamond plate gets hot in the summer.....

steel is the way to go may want to add some more braces though so it doesn't sag.

make sure you run big enough tires then you don't have to worry about the wood decaying, steel getting hot, or the extra weight...

Good one Brian. I might need some shin guards though.

As far as the deck goes, I bought some "Top Choice" treated lumber back in November. I let it dry for a few months, then treated all six sides with deck stain. Its sitting in the garage now waiting for installation. Hope to get to it this weekend if I'm not kidnapped in my sleep, drugged, blindfolded, and awake to find myself in Crozet with the rest of you guys.

I ran out of paint, but I got all the hard stuff done so I could put the deck back on. I need to pick up another quart of Rustoleum Gloss Black and paint the part that shows.

New deck is secured by 42 Galvanized 1/4x20 Carriage Head Bolts. They are a real pain to tighten up when you are working by yourself and the wood doesn't bite them. Some creative Vice Grip work got it done, but I had to climb under the trailer way to many times.

A little bit more work and these guy will be ready for a 3000 mile journey to Texas and back.

One more chore - dispose of the old trailer deck.
