The back isnt cut yet, i wanted to get the front stiched up first and then move to the back. Ive got one side patterned and i just need to cut out the sheetmetal and start tacking it all together. I got a gallon of bedliner and im gonna paint the truck from the body line down with it. It should hide some of the body work.

Ok, so here is the first half of my long overdue update on my big ass lawn ornament. I thought i had some finished shots of the truck as is sits now but for some reason they werent on the flash card so ill have to take some tommorow. As is sits now, all it needs for the fall crawl is for me to throw in the new exhaust flanges studs i already have, reset the passenger side preload (its almost solid, go figure, i better take it to a different mechanic the next time ), and perhaps throw a new front tcase output bearing in it. Ive got a squeak in 4wd that isnt there with the case in 2wd and the hubs locked in, so if its load related and it comes from the front of the truck and it isnt in the axle i suppose that could be the culprit. That and ive got about a 1/8 of play in it and thats after i snugged the flange nut down some more. I may just let it be and beat the shit out of it regardless but if i can find the money for a rebuild kit i think i may throw one in. Ok so no more novel, here are some pics.

Some shots of the initial cuts with some sheetmetal in place plus ann's graffiti (long story). All these pics are with my mockup 38.5 tire, so keep that in mind.

Here are two shots of the sheetmetal roughed in with my shitty looking welds prior to final flap wheeling and bedliner.

This is a shot of how the truck looks from the front. Imagine it sitting with my 34s, half the front end blacked out, and no big ass holes in the fenders. Its a stretch, but its all ive got till the morrow. Happy labor night.

-Matt

i would lean more towards a u joint in the front shaft causing the squeek. i would let the bearing eat for the trip. it should be ok. tightening up the front nut shouldn't tighten it.

Thats a good thing to check as well, i need to put it up on stands and see if i can reproduce the sound. The joints might just need a shot of grease.

usually the joints will be noisy only under load at first and then get worse.

Those pics are probably a month and a half old, shes a done deal. All i have left for the fall crawl are exhaust downpipe studs, reset the knuckle bearing preload on the side that is almost solid, and get the big bitch legal for the trip.

If i have some light when i get home maybe i can get some shots of how she sits now, those pics i posted are kinda fugly.
