No rest for the weary ... and still no tools.

Torch worked just fine to get them bolts out to free up the lil' trailer for the generator.

Scored me another major freebie today also.

It's a "hospital zone" muffler to slap on the generator ... so it don't sound like Doc's.

Yeller trailer ain't got no springs Brother ... she tends to hop 'round just a bit. The thought of havin' another trailer behind that is nothin' short of friggin' terrifyin'. I'll consider myself damn lucky if'n I actu'lly get this dog and pony show to The 3X's.

Not too much progress today ... actual work got in the way. Damn.

Yard crew did get some torch work done. Good to see that tongue jack burned off there. My poor CoonAss 'bout dropped a nut tryin' to crank that thang high enuff for us to tow the trailer back to Baltimore.

Outside tires are off ... inside lugs are soakin' now.

New tires are $120 each ... mounted.

Tilt bed with unsprung axle centered on the trailer ain't gonna make for a pleasent trip home ...

Dropped 5 hun'erd today to get a suspension for 'er ... springs, hangers, u-bolts. Gonna have the yard crew weld the deck to the tongue and cut the axle loose from it. Shift the axle back and mount on suspension. Rig a vertical plate with adjustment holes for the pintle loop so can pull behind a pick-up or Lil' Pete.

If'n any of y'all remember the tank of a single-car trailer I got at the house ... she's now for sale for $1500.

Damn beautiful day today in Baltimore ...

Yard crew hit trailer purdy hard with the torch. They was still burnin' when I left, so'll have to get some pics tomorrow.

The first pic shows the back channel. It's purdy beat up since it was a tilt bed. Gotta new hunk of channel to replace it.

Second pic shows how the tongue goes straight into the axle to form the pivot point for the original tilt bed and how the axle is directly bolted to the frame.

Got the new meats today.

Took 4 men 2 hours to beat them ol' wheels apart and mount 'em.

Once the wheels was apart, they took a wire wheel to 'em and cleaned 'em up. 3-piece wheels are part of our automotive history. There was only one old fella in the shop that had ever even messed with 'em.

They made it quite clear they didn't ever wanna see me again.

8.25 x 15, 16-ply, rated for 4000 lb. each.

I'll tell you, People are spoiled when they have tools and get use to do the easy jobs.

down the street from where I live(Mex) , there's a tire place and see them doing those kind of jobs all the times. Yes, there are still truck runnig those kind of wheels around here.

I know for a fact that's not an easy task.

Yard crew done good yesterday.

Here's a shot of the scrap pile and one taken from the back of the trailer.

New Bulldog tongue jack, weld-on D-rings, and light kit showed up today.

Hot on the trail of a source for rough-cut oak to plank out 26" on both sides to make 'er into a Cruiser Trailer.

Torched the tongue free of the axle.

Now the tongue lays flat against the bottom of the deck where it'll be gussetted and welded solid ... creatin' a normal trailer.

Once I take a buttload of measurements, we'll unbolt the axle to prep it for the suspension parts.

Tryin' to get to the brakes. Unbolted the cover plates on the end of the axles and found some big-ass nuts. Reckon we'll take them off next and see what falls out. Also some bolts on the backside of the hub that mite have somethin' to do with somethin' ... ain't sure yet.

Got 2 wires comin' out for the brakes on each side. Reckon one's a ground??? Thought brakes only had a hot wire.

[Editor's Note: This here would be a great time for a lil' advice from somebody that mite know just a lil' bit 'bout this shit. ]

one is a ground and one is a positive but most trailer brake manufacturers do not even label the wires.

Reason: it is an electo-magnet and polarity does not matter just put a neg. and pos. to it and she will work..... if the magnet is good.

Thanks Cam ... coarse the CoonAss claimed he knew that the whole time.

... so I tossed 'im in the middle of the trailer and hooked up some jumper cables to the Trusty Ol' Comp'ny Truck ...

and I'll be damned ... brakes work fine.

He made short work of weldin' the tongue solid to the deck. Redneck can burn some rod By Gawd.
