My new trailer will look good behind that, you thought my other one was big. I like to shit myself when I pulled up to pick it up this past Wednesday. As my brother put it "looks like a greatdane mounted on a chawawa(sp)" but the little dodge pulled the shit out of it. It is rather nice though or atleast I like it.

I agree ... but that's down the road some. Gonna have to stretch the bed 'bout foot and a half. Meanwhile ... I'll just tow my trailer as is.

Fuel mileage and capacity 'bout the same as the Dodge.

Gonna call the Fella this afternoon with a few questions. Hopefully close the deal durin' the same phone call. Fly to Oregon 27 March to drive 'er home.

Good for you and glad you like it. Problem is though that you're prob'ly exceedin' the legal tow limit of the Dodge ... which leaves you exposed in a civil liability case should one ever arise. Risky bid'ness.

Here is the rig I am trying to get my hands on (cheap). Picture a cabover up front and lowered bed with drive over fenders for the rig on the back. Then I could bumper tow a second rig if I wanted to.

...patiently waiting for roger to post up...it seems ya'll are all in the same boat.

I know he's looked at the 4700, but I think he wants a club cab or one of the newer 6.7 Dodge cab/chassis

A club cab would be nice but with the slide in (8-10ft) and a flat bed long enough to haul my cruiser (minimum 14ft) the rig would just be too long. Many a 24' straight truck out there fairly cheap and if I can get a boot between the slide in and the cab the kids/wife/whoever could ride in the camper and fetch me a cold one when I wanted it! Towing my 18' bumper pull for a second rig would be no problem either. The rig I pictured is at one of our facilities that recently closed. It is no longer on the "books" so I may be able to get it really cheap. Fingers crossed!

Let the games begin ...

Part of the deal was that the Fella picks me up at the airport on Saturday in Chicago with full fuel tanks and a gooseneck hitch mounted in the bed. Haul ass 1000 miles home straight thru to pull in Sunday evenin' to pick up Debbie at DFW when she flies in. Got Tommy lined up to wire up the electrical trailer outlets in the bed Monday. Tuesday head to Katemcy with it.

Along with the rest of us. I have been looking for a used IH 4300 extended cab but all of them I have located have roll back bodies on them. I have wanted to stay with something I can unhook from the camper in places like Moab and drive to town. I may have to settle for a Ford 650

Kowboy the new truck is impressive.

But I'm real fond of the color of the engine ... yeller ... Caterpillar yeller to be exact.

200 miles on a completely overhauled 3126.

And thanks Roger ... I look forward to takin' delivery Saturday.

Maybe a coupla more tidbits for those that have an int'rest.

Freshly rebuilt Fuller 8LL tranny. Eight road speed gears and two additional deep reduction ratios in low and reverse.

New clutch, all new brakes. New hood. All paint and chrome new. Redone interior with brand new leather air-ride seats. Brand new super single tires on new 22.5" wheels.

I was going to save this one for Spanky but it seems appropiate here, You know what the difference is between a porcupine and a Peterbilt ? The pricks are on the outside of the porcupine.

bit of an odd color, but good choice. i still like the pete's although their newer stuff leaves a lot to be desired. don't know the little pete's that much (i did the big stuff), but i'd guess mid-late 90s 330? 3126 is a nice motor.

"8ll" leaves a bit (8 spd plus double lows) open as there are a lot of fuller designations ending in 8ll. prefix letters will tell you if it's low inertia and if it has od. other numbers tell you what cut gears, torque capacity, and if it's the improved sealing trans.

Well this prick eased on into the Peterbilt dealership next to our yard here in Baltimore this afternoon to get some info on what the hell I just bought.

Once they stopped laughing at me for not knowin' what I owned ... they all proved most helpful teachin' me some facts ... and even dug up an old brochure that covers my year model.

The Peterbilt Model 330 is a class 6 truck (19,501 - 26,000 lbs) designed for light and medium duty applications. It was available as a single axle truck, which mine is. It was also available with hydraulic brakes so a CDL ain't required ... but mine has air brakes.

"At the heart of this workhorse is a lightweight, rugged, corrosion resistant all aluminum cab ... and topped off with a one-piece aluminum roof."

They spoke highly of the engine/transmission combo and assurred me my 15,000 lb trailer would not even require splittin' the gears on the tranny. Drive it just like my Dodge.

Once they saw the pictures of what I bought ... they weren't laughin' no more. Owner of the dealership told me if I'd "take the stupid truck bed off the back" ... he'd buy it from me ... and made me an offer. It was twice what I paid.

I told 'em thanks but no thanks ... and have a nice day.
