Okay, how wide a rim for a 295 75/16 ?

I'd love to hear everyone's opinion on this. I'm trying to get a consensus before I purchase, and I'm sure you can imagine - it's pretty hard to trust what the "tire salesman" are saying...

So far I've decided on an All-Terrain tire sized 295 75/16. An 8 inch wide rim should be okay with that much sidewall right? Has anyone had any experience with this setup?

I have the BFG 295/75 on my stock '97 FZJ-80 rims. Works fine and dandy. So yes, 8" is fine with this tire.

I always thought that the stock rims were 16 X 7's ... now I feel like an idiot. Anyhoo....thanks again.
