You know mabrodis? He lives in castle rock as well. I will be stoping by his place on the 6th and leave from there on the 7th. I think mabrodis may come to silverton too, but he's not sure yet.

Shhh, he doesn't know me, and we prefer it that way! He lives on the other side of said big park from us...the WRONG side! LOL!!

BBQ sounds fun, Silverton is a 83.7% forsure deal...probably won't have a Cruiser though, just my '85 Toy...oh well..

Wrong!wrong!wrong!!!!!!!

i'm on the original block of the niegbhor-HOOD!!

YOU, MR. MABRODIS, your part of the area is concidered newbie-ville as far as i'm concerend.

MARK, (not that i know you) i think it would be sweet to have that parking lot filled with cruisers on a saturday.

i'm wondering if we have to contact the "HOA NAZI'S" to use the covered area.

LOL!! MAYBE THE NEW POOL WILL BE DONE BY THEN...................................NOT!!!!!!

AUG 7TH sounds good!!

kenton.....e-mailed you today!!!

We almost bought a house over by where you live...and by 'almost' I mean we saw it, threw eggs and sped off.. LOL!

Not sure about the HOA Nazi's, since we don't deal with them.. Our mostly lame builder did one thing right (many things wrong like not paying subs, getting liens on homes, running from the law, facing 14 lawsuits from the city of Castle Rock, etc), he did not fill out any paperwork for our homes to be part of Founders. So technically we're inside of Founders, but we pay no HOA fees, are not under any Founders-HOA rules, etc... That might change at some point, but 3 yrs and going strong... Course we can't use the non-existent pool, but that's ok.

Hey you were driving too fast on Founders yesterday (don't blame your wife again!)

Silverton/Durango/Farmington

Hello all,

Ali contacted me telling me everyone was going to be in town 8/7-8/11 / 8/12. I live in Durango and hope to see you all out here. We have no formal club out here but I'll round up a few cruiser heads from around here and try to get some good trails-unless you all have a pretty good idea of what you would like to do. Also have some lodging recommendations for those who haven't booked yet. If Silverton is full-check near Cascade Creek, Ouray, or even into Durango (we're not too far from Silverton (50 mi.)).

ciao

How about 1? We could have a BBQ lunch... Give me directions, and tell me what to bring, and I'll be there with 6 to 8 hungry mouths, an FZJ-80, and hopefully some funny stories from my previous week's adventures.

We'd probably have to leave around 4 or so...

Our plan is to make it to Denver by Sat night (late) and spend the night in a Motel 6 off of I-70. As of now, we're hoping to make it to Denver from Chicago in one day but we'll see. Then get up on Sunday and head over to Silverton for a late afternoon arrival time. I'll have another FZJ80 coming with me from Chicago. His name is Zack.

Regards,

Ali

We plan on getting into town late friday nite (really late), then early saturday we are going to check out some areas to potentially move to, then Sunday AM we'll be heading to Silverton. I plan on going to Silverton via Co Springs, then Lake City, then taking Cinammon Pass the rest of the way into Silverton. Normally I would go into Montrose, but thought I would mix it up this time. If anyone else is interested, I plan on leaving no later than 10am on Sunday.

Later!

Kumar

Hey Zack, tell me more. Do you have pictures? Maybe I'll pester Ali to give me the design again. Sliders before Colorado might be a good idea... If I have time to fabricate them in two weeks.

Later,
Kenton

Kenton,

I used George's slider designs. However, I seriously doubt you'll have the time to build these before your trip. Let's see, I told you about these about 1.5 years and you still haven't done them

Since I lack the skill and knowlege to build them myself, Ali kingly obliged with the drawings and another member of the Chicago Land Rover Club constructed them. They were just picked up from the powder coater and and on they go this weekend.

I will post pictures at the beginning of next week (assuming someone tells me how to do that).

Hey, what can I say... it took my 6 years to marry my wife!

i'm too busy with the time I get, working on the 4skinner-- I carved out the fenders for 35's, and installed staun beadlocks on my tires...

Unfortunately, looks like I won't make Brian's "badlands bash" he has planned for next weekend...

Hope to see you in CO, although sounds like we may not cross paths.

Kenton

All,

If anyone is interested in tagging along, I will be going to Silverton AM of August 7th (sunday) from Denver (actually Castle Rock) to Silverton via Lake City/Cinnamon Pass. This Pass is the easiest in the area and should be a good primer for the trip in...of course, no trailers

Later.

Ali and I are meeting Saturday Night August 6th at a Motel 6 on the West Side of Denver (Wheat Ridge or something like that). As I am eager to wheel as much as possible, I think I am in. I will call Ali on wed and confirm with him.

Hell, the more the merrier!!! Last year we even had some jeepers with us. The first year we split the group up into two (about 6-8 rigs per group). The second year we had a few more groups, but they were smaller. The second year we had a lot of repeat customers so we kinda knew what trails whom whould want to run. This year I hope to hit some new trails...does your land have any new trails?

...Also do you know Alex? He has blue 40, works in the power plant up on Blackbear. I need to find a way to contact him before we leave. If we do, then he can arrange for us to have a private run in the high country just above the power plant (through the gates).

Later
