The best party will be in Gilmer that weekend. Feel free to wear your costume if it makes you feel better.

I will try to rally the troops from CottonLand and see how many we can get. Might still be hung over from the Crawl!

I'll see if Chris King can use his charm and influence to get it setup again. Whenever I call I don't get much response.

Per Tom Mitchell, Chair of the BMRA BOD: Approved by BMRA group, let us know a roster of names of those who are authorized to enter early, and exactly what hours the gate will need to be manned.

Standard practice... just let everyone know at signup that if they aren't on the guard's Thursday night arrival list, he will either deny them entrance until the morning or he'll be calling you out of the rack at zero-dark-thirty to come down and authorize their admittance.

The usual MO is to have the guard on duty from 5:00 to 1:00, I am pretty sure he gets $8 per hour which will need to be paid Thursday.

Let me know what else you need and I'll be happy to help out!

Jason, have you seen BMRA's new event policy? http://www.barnwellmountainra.com/BM...t%20policy.pdf

Not sure if ICBM applies.

I think we're ok as it doesn't meet any of the criteria they have listed there for an open event.

We do need to get a list of names of people who want to show up on Thursday though.

Jason, you really need to get a Thursday list together pronto, and decide what hours you want the gate manned.

Actually, the event does because you are requesting a Thursday opening and contracting for services.

If you want to reserve Old Camp you can request that when you submit the contract for services.

We had a blast this weekend, all the trails were alot tougher than usual. I flopped over on my passenger side 3 times on whatever, and ended up taking the first bypass on it (I think Tim may have gotten a pic of me on one of the flops). Then had the pedal to the floor for the second section, layed into the wall. Got denied on the top of spider ravine, almost went over on Jeepy Hollow (big, weird washout). Planted the front bumper that kept me from going over. Tim said the back driver tire was about 6' in the air when I came to rest. Oh, and twister and Clyde's ravine were downright undoable. I tried Twister Saturday morning and about went over before my tire slipped off the wall and slammed me back to reality. The wall at the front of twister has grown alot w/ all the rain they've had up there. On Clydes, going down it, the first ledge at the top of the trail is about a 5' vertical drop now.
On Whatever...

BMRA Trail Report 10.18.2009

I just got back from spending a weekend at BMRA, and holy cow, the place is a mess. Based on the difficulty of the highest obstacle, add 1 to each trail rating.

Trails with specific issues:
Desi Way is a 5 based on 2 almost impassable obstacles in the first 1/3 of the trail, although if you run it backwards (from the gas well) you can do the last 2/3- just bail out at the switchback east of the rockgarden.
On Any Sunday is unapproachable because of a mud-bottomed canyon before you even get to the mudhole/bypass that really starts the trail. Swallowed 1 Scout (4 hour recovery) and 1 FJC (had to winch through going in and then winch out to escape).
Greenlane off Linda Gail is closed because the drainage pipe got clogged, cause runoff to go around the pipes and exposing them.
Solihull at the bottom is not doable on the entrance climb, although you can still go up the exit.
Twister is a joke- almost 12' deep and undercut below the now vertical wall.
Scorpion's Overlook- the hill climb to the ridgeline is going to be very challenging, as the erosion has steepened it considerably.
Clyde's Ravine is indeed gone as we know it- it is now almost 3x as long as it once was, and averages 8-10' deep with a gooey, white clay bottom and near vertical sides.

Rover Camp, TTR Camp and LSLC (Old) Camp are in good shape.

I have never seen it this bad, I would encourage everyone to review the maps prior to hitting the trails and realize that any trails with a creek/crevice crossing need to be scouted on foot due to the serious erosion.

Be prepared next weekend for the most challenging wheeling you've probably ever done. If the weather is like it was this weekend, the camping will be excellent!

My carnage: blown bead, 3 winches and smashed fender (first 1/3 of Desi Way), broken CV (Binders Blvd, site of a roll of one of the Scouts).
