Based on this up coming 10 days for most of the areas we will be in, looks like the mid 80s during the days and mid 40s at night.

Are we there yet?

I think I am melting!

i'll agree about the melting.... people come by, want to take the bikes out for a test ride, and when i head back into the shop, i'm sweating like i was riding. somebody told me today it was around 110. i never heard if that was true, but it sure felt that way....

What are you talking about!?!?!? We are on topic. Colorado is the escape from the HEAT! If that doesn't push someone else to jump on the band wagon to go, nothing will.

i've done this trip many times.... from the first time we started doing it for the next 4 or 5 years, but i've missed the last few, either because i needed some work on the truck, or work was in the way, or some such like that.
now, with the new job, only one week of vacation, and i have to make choices, and the annual mountain bike trip to moab wins, though not by much.
an the trip you guys have planned this year is really, really, really tempting....
the only reason the bike trip won is that we are doing moab, gooseberry mesa, and flagstaff this year, so some new trails, and new photographic subjects, a compelling draw for the likes of me.

I have been able to make Moab just once. In 2005. I have wanted to go back every year since, but with the wife working for the school and the kids in school, summer is the only time we can go, and Moab is HOT in summer time. SO.. Colorado wins.

Maybe one of these days I will get to make Cruise Moab. But not likely unless they throw it in the middle of Spring break.

well, if you mountain bike, and ever want to come with us, we go the third week of october every year. you can go even if you don't mountain bike, if you wanna follow and bring the cruiser. it's just my riding crew, so three or four guys biking moab for a week. anyone is welcome, and it's always a good trip.

I for one can't WAIT for Colorado. I agree with the melting heat and the relief of the mountains are calling! Low's in the 40's?! Sounds like heaven to me! I haven't read back far enough, who all is going so far?

LOL! okay, nevermind about my question of who's going, I went back and caught up. No one has answered the "anyone like tequila" question so let me go on record now as saying "I DO! I DO!" and then I expect a very short line of those sharing it since no one spoke up. In other words BACK OFF, IT'S MINE! lol

...and here all along I thought I was taking Todd along for recreation... hmmm.

Just two more days before we leave

I was wondering how important it is to take firewood 1500 miles? I have plenty here for weeks but not a great place in the rig to put it, like roof rack. Is there absolutely no wood in colorado, against the law to pick up firewood? should we really bring some?

We love to have a campfire so if means having to bring our own wood, we will. Gotta have fire to have late night fire dancing right?

No need to take any. There is always wood around. Most of the places, just making space for tents we collected plenty. I think gathering wood is only prohibited in state and national parks. GSDNP would be the only place, but more than likely we will be up toward Medano Pass for camping.

We are going I20 to 287 and will meet the Rushings on 287 in either Henrietta or Chilicothe. Acording to Johns calculations it will take 15 hours to get to the great sand dunes. So if we leave at 6am that puts us there at 9pm. Do we want to leave earlier??? So we will have sunlight when we get there?? Also it takes 2hours 45 min to get to Henrietta from Whitewright and only 2hours from Dallas per google maps. So John gets to leave 45min before everyone else!!!! Our vote is to leave earlier than 6am per the
