Cracked Intake
Initial Problem - Blown Intake Gasket
Solution - Took apart the manifold to find a crack right underneath where the carb. sits on the intake What else i found - Gasket between intake/exhaust manifold were bad and cracked & the "heat riser valve" inside the exhaust manifold is missing a screw and does not move freely. Question - Do i TIG weld the crack? Get a new/used manifold assembly? Anybody have one in the austin area for sale? Also, since this stuff is off (EGR cooler & everything that goes with it) does anybody have advice on where i can get block-off plates for the EGR and also for the metal pipe that goes up to where ever it goes? I'm an extremely novice land cruiser owner and have searched mud all day for answers but thought I'd also try my neighborhood land cruiser gurus. I'm in North Austin and will be open to any and all advice concerning these issues. |
