1974 Pig, 350 Auto, Sale or Trade
All,
1974 FJ-55 Good: *Chevy 350 is strong. The block is a Mr. Goodwrench crate unit installed by the po. *Butch installed a freshly rebuilt auto tranny w/ AA Adapter and Josh fabbed up a brace for it and the t-case. * Butch installed a disc-brake front-end * Power Steering...Josh braced this also *Roofline is clean, maybe a little surface rust, but no rot or filler *Has correct b/s black wagon wheels 33x12.50 BFG muds w/ 50% or better tread *All lights, radio work (radio is OEM) *Rear bench seat in good condition *Headliner in good condition *SOR dash cap over OEM dash with one or two cracks * OEM Toyota front floor mat/covering *All doors/glass intact *Painted sage green and white...looks good from about 20 feet and back *Floors are solid...a few pinholes in D/S floor board *Frame VERY solid *Front bumper homemade, stout, looks pretty good. *Front seatbelts there and very retro Bad: * Rockers had rust cut out and replaced with metal...better than I could do but this guy was no body man. * No rear seatbelts * No AC, no heater....it needs a new heater core. * PO painted it...looks good from 20 feet and back *PO sucked at body work. Obvious rot in rear quarters with terrible bondo work. Looks like rears could be chopped for new rear bumper *Some bondo in front fenders and hood. (actually, you can tell anywhere that she has rust, cause the bondo work is SO bad) *T-Case area leak. Maybe a speedy sleeve is the fix? *Rear window doesn't work. (I have both a working rear motor and a new gear not installed) *Weatherstrip on doors shot. (I have all of it, new as per ih8mud guide, not installed) *Front bench needs reuhpolstered...I have a pair of fair buckets from an FJ-60 that can go with it. *Mismatched spare (great tread) on disc brake OEM hubcap wheel *Cargo panels, door panels need replaced. (Doc made his own and patterns available on ih8mud) *Rear bumper missing corner piece. **Gearing: I had the wrong auto tranny put in this for highway driving, but the right one for crawling. It either needs to be sprung-over with 37's, or regeared...the 4:11s ar too low...or, just be happy with maxing out at 55mph on the highway! Overall, I think this is a great starting point for a DD or a trail rig or a rig that works as both. The LAST thing I want is for someone to buy this and then feel ripped off. I have about $2600 in it above the purchase price of the truck. That includes the new tranny, all of Butch's work and the extra stuff: window gear/motor, weather stripping, dash cap etc. First LSLC member who can deliver $1500 gets it. I am positive you could part it out for much more, but I do not do that and my local parter-outer moved to Mississippi. I would HIGHLY recommend trailering it off until the T-case leak can be addressed. It has to be nearly empty by now. I only moved it in and out of the driveway for garage sales. I will also consider trades, in part or in whole for: OEM Soft Top and Bows OEM Bows by themselves OEM Tailgate and accessories Smurf Blue Hard Top and Amby Doors (Doc, Jason) Thanks, Garth Pictures to follow. __________________ Garth Lone Star Land Cruisers '97 FZJ 40th '77 FJ - 40 |
