I think you want to go to Butch Baker, Baker Tire in Bonham. He is Texican on this board. He has done a lot of work on my 80 and it's been perfect. He owns an 80 as well.

I would love for Butch to work on my 80, but I'm leaving town tomorrow and can't make it up to Bonham on such as short notice.

Good news about half that can be done WITHOUT a mechanic. do you have a factory service manual (FSM) that will help an incredible amount. trust me you can do most of these things. and I am only a .5 mechanic.

Everything on the list, with possible exception of the birfield, is something any local mechanic shop can do.

If you're interested, you can bring it to Garland and I'll show you how to do the birfield in my garage. You supply parts and corn liquor.

Otherwise, Butch is best one I know.

James

Thanks for all the offers for help. I ended up calling Randy and he took good care of my 80 while I was out of town.

I normally do all the work on my own cars and have already repacked the PS birfield a while back. I'm really swamped with work right now and really need to have the job done while I'm out of town.

I agree. The factory service manual is invaluable. I have both the hard copy and soft copy (pdf files downloaded from Toyota). I print out the paged I need for the job so that I don't dirty up my nice hard copy of the manual.
