Anyone interested in a self defense / target hitting device?
I have a particular device for sale that is often used for self defense and hitting targets at very high velocities.
Please see the attached link for information. Taurus International Manufacturing Inc I'm not keeping it because I have another such device and don't need more than one. A friend purchased it a few years ago for his wife and she used it twice hitting targets at the range. Then it went into a bedside locker and never came out until he traded it to me for another item. It's had at most, 50 rounds of target striking devices put through it so it's practically brand new. It's a perfect concealment device because of it's size and weight AND it's guaranteed to work when needed unlike some of the same devices that are automatic. $325 __________________ Brett in San Antonio, Texas Alamo City Land Cruisers Lone Star Land Cruisers - Austin '97 Lexus LX 450 TLCA # 11186 Sold - '82,'86,'95 Land Cruisers; '85 4Runner |

I'm going back and fourth on whether to keep it. It's size and weight make it perfect for hikes into the vast, unprotected areas of West Texas. My other device is a bit large and heavy for backpacking.

Yep...Yours is very dependable and having made out of SS. makes it better to handle the outdoors.
This is the one I carried on hikes, back in the Carolinas. Photo here.... I picked this, due to it's small slim size and dependability. I also inherited a similar one that you have, but the color is blue. __________________ Cya, Nathan 2001 Tacoma DCab BIG THANKS to the following guys/gals that design killer stuff for my rig: JFab of San Marcos TX, CBI, Donahoe, TC, Timbren, Alcan, R.O.R.E., ViAIR & ARB. www.Z3POWER.net TTORA Member since Nov 18, 2005 - - TLCA Member since June 4, 2008 |

I do like the hammerless but of course then you can only use it in D.O. mode. With the hammer I can go to S.A. mode from time to time.
I may keep it but I could use the cash towards something on my truck. If no one is interested, I'll just use it for backpacking and camping. __________________ Brett in San Antonio, Texas Alamo City Land Cruisers Lone Star Land Cruisers - Austin '97 Lexus LX 450 TLCA # 11186 Sold - '82,'86,'95 Land Cruisers; '85 4Runner |

The hammer is nice but not for a pistol like the ones you are looking at. What you have to understand is that lightweight revolvers like that are meant to be carried/stored a lot, but hardly shot. Not because you can't but because you wont want to, the lw's kick like mules and you'll say enough after a couple wheels.
Coming to the hammer, which are only used for precise shooting ie target or hunting. You will not be doing that with a lightweight revolver in anything over .22 or the likes. Next is if your going to use it as a carry piece that hammer is just a big hook to snag on anything in its way. Shoot one once and thats enough, they are not enjoyable target pieces...carry gun = excellent! wow taht was long../rant __________________ -Josh- '94 FJZ80 2nd owner 175k OME 2.5", Bumper'd: Dusty Made & custom front, TSL radials 36x12.5, Aussie locked rear and a really cool Soco magnet on the bumper! Ouch, I have little girl hands!
You have the hands of a little girl.
I have a long, extensive history with handguns or all types. I've owned more than I can recall. I sold most of my guns in 2000 for various reasons. I've trained under some of the best handgun instructors in the state (Karl Rehn and Dr. Penny Riggs) in basic, advanced and tactical handgun combat courses. My concealed handgun license was one of the first 100 issued in the state of Texas and I spoke before the state legislature concerning Texas citizens right to carry firearms in the early '90's. The point: I understand these devices and how they work. I know all the gives and takes of light vs heavy framed guns. This particular piece is not at all difficult to use target shooting and ANY gun you carry, you need to be extremely comfortable with. This includes firing it at the range, often. You do not want to carry something you rarely shoot. A .38 is not a difficult range gun, even loaded with +P ammo if you're using the correct stance and grip. Now I challenge you to a wet towel popping contest. ![]() Quote:

My very most favorite one ever.
It has been pointed out to me that it will snag on things in my purse

Oh, and just get whatever you are most comfortable with to shoot and carry.

Me? It is not a choice, just my favorite that I have had. The grip fits in my hand perfectly. It is also very accurate.
I have never even seen the other one, I just guessed it would be the same. Except the accurate part since it is so short. I like the way it looks. Odd, but the gun show really put me off. Right now another ridgie and a shotgub under the bed seems best.

What traumatized you at the gun show?

Some guy zapped her with a stun gun. She lay flopping on the floor. Jen and I were a little embarrassed and just left her there.

Not traumatized at all. Despite all the freaks there.
![]() However for a hammer to snag on something in my purse, it would actually have to be in my purse in the first place. That thought gave me a stomach ache. I can barely keep track of my cellphone. I had envisioned keeping it in my truck. Then all these threatening scenarios where I would need to have it on my person rather than in the parking lot started flashing through my mind. Or maybe one of the creepy gun sellers was describing them to me. I did not like the creepy paranoid danger feeling I got.

I have to admit, of all the gun shows I've been too, and I've been to a lot of them, there were some real characters there.

No I'm afraid of pepper spray. Remind me to tell you the story about Christine and I getting pepper sprayed at a Olive Garden by the Austin PD.

Get a semi auto 380 and be done with it... Then get you a purse that doubles as a holster, yes, they really make them, and you can carry anywhere you want.
